Astros have had losing streaks of 4, 4, and 7 games. They are 5-9-1 in series this season. They have 1 winning streak of 4 games. So nah, winning today would be great but if Houston is going to save their season they need to rip of 7+ straight wins at some point over the next ~30 games.
All is forgiven since game 2 vs Mariners. Overall the Astros need consecutive wins and to avoid b2b losses. Altuve is probably done for 6 weeks but Shew has been great and Pena is set. Astros could really use an injury stoppage and more players to return. The pitching is starting to solidify a little. Maybe Imai can be a solid #4... smh
Series win/sweep delays the inevitable, but on the other hand, can't complain when the Astros remind those losers up north of their place. Also, I'm prepared to die on this hill, but the Rangers definitely cheated in some form in 2023... everyone just let it slide because they beat the Astros in the ALCS.
Probably first time since early-April Astros haven't been last or 2nd last. Astros haven't won 3 consecutive since 1st week with Eovaldi on deck. He went from injured last week to right here ready.... of course, right? The fact the Astros managed to miss BOTH of the Dodgers suck starters YET catch BOTH Degrom and Eovaldi is as taboo as the injuries.
Adolis Garcia becoming a bum after those playoffs is sketchy as hell. You can’t convince me that dude wasn’t on roids at some point.
At this point, I’m not sure Altuve can even be considered important. OPS below .700 and trash defense. The bar isn’t that high for Shewmake at 2B with Pena returning. Maybe all the time off will help Altuve too when he returns. He started off hot and then collapsed.
