Carr never put in the work.

Which is the worry with CJ, honestly.
    Carr had more natural talent

Man, I hope he puts it all together this year. I don't know what's worse, not having a QB or having a QB on a massive 2nd contract who isn't the guy.

    Also, there's this.

Stroud for Hurts, who says no?

I could see Hurts being a ball control, game manager dream for a defensive-minded coach (also there's that Alabama and Houston thing).

Ryan Leaf had more natural talent than Manning.

Talent means nothing if you don't put in the work (JaMarcus Russell).

That’s literally what I’m saying. CJ hasn’t shown he’s committed to putting in the work like Carr and Carr had more natural ability to offset

CJ has put in work, the problem has been bad habits developed because the poor offensive line. You can see it in his footwork. It also didn't help he was hurt last offseason. He has definitely put in the work this offseason. He has been in the building since 3/2/26.

    That’s excuses.
He rested on his laurels and hasn’t improved.

There’s more evidence he doesn’t work in the offseason than there is the opposite

Anything that puts him in the Mahomes/Stafford tier doesn’t hold weight

Because they're talking about how hard he's working this off-season. If he was working this hard every off-season instead of in a contract year they wouldn't be talking about how much work he's putting in this off-season. Really this is pretty simple

If you exclude brains, your statement is true. Manning's offseason workouts are legendary, but he was ahead of his time reading defenses out of the huddle and changing plays at the line of scrimmage.

Not saying you, but many people equate the terms arm strength (can make "every" throw) and natural talent when discussing QBs. I think instincts and intelligence should be included.

I was near the ledge with CJ to end the season. That’s why I haven’t posted much since the Pats loss. I must say, this is CJs last chance, personally. I believe the oline is MUCH improved with the veterans we signed. With the majority being run blockers, it should open up Montgomery for an expected (from me) 1100 rushing yards and 10 TDs for the season. Yes, that would mean his best season when it comes to yards.

This means, CJ shouldn’t have to throw for 250 yards a game. I’m still looking for around 3800 and 25 TDs from him.

All this may be true and he may be indeed a lazy POS. But that is the past, this is the future and hating on the guy for not doing enough and now he does. Good for him, he did have a stellar rookie season and he, didn't put in the work, got himself hurt and ran into problems running for his life with a broken line. Now, (we hope), the line is better, the running game is better, and (again we hope), between getting his work in, having a chip on his shoulder, you know, 4 int the last game, he is back on the shocking 1st year hopes this whole board wanted to believe. He know there is a lot on the line this season. Between an elite defense, a much improved running game and better protection (we hope), he will have no excuse if he still mess up.

But I do wish him all the good health and peace he can have and let's see if Texans will have a great year or not.

I’m absolutely hoping for the best.
He doesn’t have to be the guy, or shouldn’t need to rather. Not if the rest of the team is as good as we think. Just need him to be solid, which he definitely can be
