Again same thing about 2024 and there was at least 6 good players and Stone missed out on 5 of them and one he couldn't draft.
I don't believe anything he says to the media. This is where the lawyer in him comes out the strongest. As @carl_herrera keeps pointing out, he could say this stuff, then turn around and immediately make some huge trade. That doesn't make him a good GM though.
What I'm starting to understand is that the GARM is not going to be fun at all for this entire off-season.
I hear you. I don’t want to be negative. But it feels like the team got exposed this season. The coaching, the “young core”, and a lot of that falls on the GM. If I really thought Stone would be proactive and pivot out of some of the mistakes, I’d feel more positive. But it sure feels like we abandoned the rebuild prematurely and now Stone and Ime are going after a few more meaningless wins to try and save their jobs, instead of prioritizing the long term success of the team. It feels like Stone is set with this young core; he apparently cant see that it’s not very good. We are a play-in team at best without KD. We have no picks in this amazing draft. The 2027 and 2028 drafts are not predicted to be good. Not a lot to hope for.
Watch out. Stone will come out even more defensively after reading this thread. Stone = worst GM in Rockets history.
Only weird part of the interview from Stone was the word salad he gave when asked about upcoming Rocket free agents and their contract expectations/demands. He went into a spiel about the importance of not being insulted, I think he was probably referencing Tari, although they we're also discussing Jalens extension. Outside of that, seemed fairly normal.
People still think Stone is going to go on record and say something real? The press conference teach your idiots nothing?
I agree with almost everything here. I keep trying to be optimistic, but it’s becoming increasingly difficult. I do think that Adams and FVV add positive elements to the team. And I think a lot of of these players can maintain their efficiency if we can scale back the minutes. but we still have no idea if the KD existence is salvageable or maybe it’s not even as big of a deal as we perceive it to be. my perception is that it affected the locker room and I don’t see Kevin is the type of person to apologize and subsequently galvanize the group. at first when it was made, the trade really pissed me off, then I came to like it, but now with the flattened lottery odds I am back to not loving it. I guess I’m surprised that the organization didn’t anticipate or have a pulse on the fact that the lottery would likely change. I definitely I think we can build around Thompson and I think that Smith and Shepp are worthwhile players inside of that vision, but there is a lot more to build out as far as adding top end talent. at the end of the day, I love the Rockets and I always will. they are at a severe talent disadvantage, and that seems to stretch from the roster, to the coaching staff, to the organizational management as well. it’s hard to be optimistic, but I can still see positive outcomes. Tough season and yes, I would love to be picking sixth. that being said the extra draft ammo should come in handy, and we still have a lot more to look forward to than many organizations. I think a lot of what is causing us all to be in such pain is the long summer.
with the local media in a captured state scared to lose press access, the garm is the last hope for this franchise at the moment. other than a few national media personalities scratching their heads on the air, nobody else is calling these fuking reetards out
Its like that every offseason. But will be especially bad this offseason. If they run it back next year (doubtful) I cant imagine how toxic next season will be.
I think the biggest rake away I got was the fact that he said after just 2 weeks.....HE'S ALREADY OVER LAST SEASON! To me, if you cared about something that strong, it'll take you more than 2 weeks to get over it. I hear some players say losing linger with them all off season. In my eyes, it makes you better! It makes you think about what you could have done differently. Additionally, don't know if anyone caught this but he kept mentioning how much he liked his job! If you’re getting paid a GREAT SALARY to POORLY ASSESS PLAYERS AND TO WORKOUT CONTRACTD.....I'D LOVE MY JOB TOO.
