Everyone should listen to this absolute fail of an interview by our GM.

    https://www.barstoolsports.com/podcast-episode/pn1IKrdJyxelqoUam3ITP0Wz

    A couple of the lowlights:

Why couldn’t you find a way to beat the KD double all season? It was April and u still had no answer.

[Stone] We struggled with that since week 2. It’s on ime and the plsyers. We crushed the double early in games but not late in games. We hit a groove at the very end and figured stuff out late in season.

you guys have no spacing. Amen is not outside threat. Sengun can’t space. Does fit matter?

[Stone]. Matters at the back end of the roster. Redundant strengths. I’m thinking how does the back end of roster fit.

How did he fail? Serious question. (Also asking because I’m lazy…)

Not really a lot of new information...
    Key takeaways for me:
    • Don't expect any hidden gems in the 2nd round due to the NIL money motivating players to stay in college longer
    • He believes the core is set with the players he's already drafted. My thought on this is that I don't see him actually using those Suns picks he got in the Brooklyn deal. He's looking to do a trade for a star. This could backfire really badly if for example, that Suns pick turns into a #1 pick due to the new draft lotto rules where the odds are flattened for teams with the 4-10th worst record.

He must really have an agenda to destroy this team’s future. I feel like we are being gaslit by the worse GM in sports history. This guy always lining his excuses up to prepare fans/ownership for his inevitable failure. He gives up way too easy. I am convinced that he is intimidated by other GMs around the league because he’s scared to approach anyone for a trade and doesn’t want to admit when he made mistakes. It’s taking him too long to pivot from his bad draft picks and fa signings

Stone is playing checkers while the top teams executives are playing chess.

    How uninspiring.

I don’t mind him trading them because that draft is terrible but we should be trading up in this draft to get our pg instead of star chasing, I’m sick of this organization looking for ****ing shortcuts all the time. We don’t even have a large coaching staff compared to other teams. We won’t invest in real shooting coaches, we literally just recently got a practice facility, and there are barely any employees within the front office(smallest front office in sports). It’s just sad how this team is run now. It’s been a joke since Morey left.

Stone doesn’t value the pg position, he keeps trying to force sgs in that position (Porter jr, Reed, Amen etc) this is insane

2027 isn’t much of a hope. It’s a poor draft and both picks combined reasonably give us about a 13% chance at the #1 pick. Those are not good odds. I keep saying this, but it’s important for folks to understand: both our 2027 picks don’t get us to #6 in this draft. They are not that valueable, relative to having a mid lotto pick in this draft. So for all the folks who think Stone was vindicated on his Brooklyn trade because Brooklyn got unlucky (not the way statistics work btw), our 2027 picks aren’t worth much. And if Reed doesn’t turn into Stephen Castle, that trade will become an even bigger mistake. It’s really bad to ignore the quality of drafts. Sitting out back to back good draft makes no sense for a team without a franchise player. Now the price to get back into this draft will be extremely high. Im not even sure if both 2027 picks and both 2029 picks get you to #5.

2024 was bad. Castle just happens to be the best player in that draft.

Unfortunately we would have to call the Clippers to gauge their interest in Sengun and one of those picks. Stone made a monumental mistake trading out of this draft and I doubt he will try to trade up because that would be him admitting to his mistake. He will never admit to his mistakes. Now he got folks scrambling for a 'silver lining' just to make it look like he won that trade. Pretending like the new lottery rules somehow makes the Rockets winners next year is pure delusion. It’s a new level of cope, and honestly, it’s just sad to witness at this point. I feel like a lot of people have lost the plot, are we protecting the team’s best interest or stone/Ime’s egos?
