the guy is confused, all mixed up. i don't know much; but based on this post by him, he doesn't understand candle stick patterns it is a BULLISH hirami yesterday was a very bullish day on large volume. today closing price was below the opening price, thus the red bearish candle, on much smaller volume than yesterday today's trading range was all inside yestderday BULLISH candle, not large large enough to change the current momentum just my guess, today market makers were profit-taking on SMH, trying to drive the trading price down, but could not generate enough selling pressure to drive the trading price below yesterday's low. the current trend is too strong the body of today's bearish candle was inside the body's of yesterday bullish candle; this is an eg of a BULLISH hirami patterm, the current trend continues this is a more descriptive chart, https://finviz.com/quote?t=SMH&ty=c&ta=1&p=d
hmm.......gemini says what the guy said.. either way it's a moot point...lol it's going up today. ATH at 558.
Based on the research I saw about how IPOs tend to go really south in a lot of cases after their debut, I'm not inclined to jump into SpaceX, OpenAi, etc. IPOs initially. You could be hit by a big drawdown if you invest early and stats support that it is often what happens. (from Copilot) Across decades of research: IPOs underperform the market over 3–5 years IPOs experience large drawdowns after the first month IPOs with high retail participation perform even worse IPOs with high short interest perform much worse When you buy an IPO, you’re not just buying a stock — you’re stepping into a battlefield between: Hedge funds shorting aggressively Day traders scalping volatility Market makers hedging options Insiders waiting to dump shares Retail investors chasing hype It’s a perfect storm for drawdowns with too much money and hype going in. What is the most "this stock is going to pop!"-hyped stock? I'm going with SOFI. Last, I bought into Rocket Lab Corp RKLB last week @ 20 shares as I was looking for something that benefits off of SpaceX. Thing just popped up on earnings by $23.45. Me likey. Another related space-oriented investment I made recently is in Redwire Corp RDW who now is investing in building UAS drones for the Marines and Navy. Seems like a no-brainer on that one.
I don't remember buying RKLB at 23 last year so when it popped to 28, i sold it... I don't even see a buy order in my history. super odd. then I got fomo and bought it at 48. pleasantly surprised to see it at 100 this AM......when to get out...hmm having lots of fomo about UNH that I sold last month. damn it. same for NBIS. bought 200 shares at 90 last aug. waited 6+ ...nothing.. a week after I sold it, it doubled. FKKKKKK.
SpaceX IPO Faces Union Pressure Over Valuation and Disclosure Concerns Investor groups urged the SEC to closely review SpaceX’s planned IPO, citing concerns over valuation, accounting, Musk-linked conflicts, and pension fund exposure. SpaceX could seek a record valuation of up to $2 trillion while raising about $75 billion. A union-linked investor group has urged the US Securities and Exchange Commission to closely review SpaceX’s planned initial public offering as the rocket company prepares for a possible record listing. The request focuses on SpaceX IPO disclosures, accounting practices, related-party transactions, and possible conflicts tied to Elon Musk’s role in government. Investor Group Questions SpaceX IPO Disclosures SOC Investment Group wrote to SEC Chairman Paul Atkins and commissioners Hester Peirce and Mark Uyeda, asking the agency to examine SpaceX’s registration statement with care. The group said it had concerns over the accuracy and reliability of the financial information that SpaceX will file. The registration statement remains confidential, though Reuters reported that it reviewed excerpts. SOC said it was waiting for the public filing before making a full assessment. However, it warned that many investors could gain exposure to SpaceX through pension funds and index-linked products. SOC said, “We are specifically concerned that SpaceX's IPO will expose numerous investors – many unwillingly – to a company whose value may decline once its financial disclosures can be independently assessed and verified.” The group does not hold SpaceX shares, but it advises union pension funds. The investor group said members of its affiliates take part in pension plans with more than $250 billion in assets. It has also questioned governance at companies linked to Musk before, including Tesla. Valuation Raises Questions Before Listing SpaceX could seek a valuation between $1.75 trillion and $2 trillion in the offering. Reports said the company may raise about $75 billion, which would make the IPO the largest public listing on record. The American Federation of Teachers also asked the SEC to review the filing. AFT President Randi Weingarten said the proposed valuation raised concerns because SpaceX’s reported revenue profile does not match the scale of the target valuation. Weingarten said, “This is not just another IPO — it’s the largest in US history, and it’s being rushed to market with a valuation that defies financial logic.” The union said its members could face indirect exposure through retirement funds if SpaceX enters major indexes soon after listing. SpaceX did not respond to requests for comment. The SEC also declined to comment on a specific company. Accounting and Governance Concerns Draw Attention SOC asked the SEC to review SpaceX’s auditor independence, revenue recognition methods, goodwill impairment treatment, and transactions between companies controlled by Musk. These areas could affect how investors value the company after its financial records become public. The group also asked the SEC to check whether staff reviewing the IPO have ties to SpaceX control persons. It raised Elon Musk’s earlier role at President Donald Trump’s Department of Government Efficiency as a possible conflict area for regulators. SOC said it was unclear whether DOGE staff still interact with SEC employees or whether former DOGE staff had worked at the agency. The group asked the SEC to make sure staff can review SpaceX’s disclosures independently and ‘without fear of political retribution.’ The AFT also raised concerns about leadership practices and accounting methods. It said the SEC should demand clear disclosures and independent oversight before SpaceX shares reach public investors. Index Inclusion Adds Pension Fund Exposure Risk The AFT also asked the SEC to review what it called forced investment linked to proposed index rule changes. NASDAQ approved a rule this year allowing large new public companies to enter the NASDAQ-100 after 15 days instead of waiting months. S&P Dow Jones Indices and a London Stock Exchange Group unit are also reviewing similar rule changes. Reuters earlier reported that SpaceX made early NASDAQ-100 inclusion a condition for considering a NASDAQ listing. Index entry can increase demand because many funds track major benchmarks. The AFT said these changes could push retirement funds into SpaceX shares faster than usual. The union said its members take part in retirement and benefit funds with about $3 trillion in assets. Weingarten said, “The commission must demand ironclad disclosures, independent oversight and safeguards against forced investment.” The SEC has not announced any action linked to the letters.
There was a time when I had that luxury. No more. I'll be selling CVX, and buying back into PLTR today.
i would not call it "pressure", it is just routine due-dilligence attendant to an IPO. Space-X has been operating for 24 years, it has filed the required SEC/IRS reports for that many years. latest estimate, the IPO will be in Jun/Jul
KWEB, an ETF that holds lots of Chinese SW/AI companies, appears to gave hit the floor in the 28 - 29 range. it was trading ~~ 40 last Oct. when it was trading ~ 29.12 this morning, bought some 32 strike CALL @ $2,8, using the Jan 2027 expiration date, my target is that KWEB will be trading above $40 before Jan 2027
on 1 April as if 13 May, SATS is trading 133---as the Space-X IPO is rapidly approaching---SATS stock price appears ready to take off decided to double up on the $40-point Bullish PUT spread, this time i was able to collected a premium of $20.50. just my guess, the euphoria over the much anticipated IPO for Space-X will drive the stock of of SATS (who owns ~5% of Space-X) above $170 easily
Loving this Nvidia run. It's when all that dollar-cost averaging pays off. Anybody jumping in on the cerebras IPO (CBRS)? I may throw my hat in for some limited shares but I'll set a limit price for sure that is more around the original IPO price of $185. If I do 10 or 20 shares, then I might just let it ride at market but not if the price is too high. My play would be long term on this one. This thing will probably take off and then draw down later. What is going on with Boeing (BA)? Trump is talking about a '200 "BIG" Boeing Jets' order but Trump couldn't tell if it was an actual order or just a desire or rambling or what? That's what CNBC just said. LOL. Meanwhile, BA is down -9.78. They say this was already priced in but surely it couldn't have fully been because noone knew the order size? And, don't call me shirley. Edit: Didn't get in on Cerebras, brahs. The IPO initial price of $185...it was overvalued even then. Now, it's just to the stars. They are a young company, haven't figured out how they are going to scale out in time and not get left behind, and have small revenues. Yet, it's getting the Nvidia treatment. Also, it's a different ecosystem than what Nvidia/AMD/Intel does. It could translate into a niche ecosystem...not a mainstream one. It feels like a baby getting treated as an adult. The tech is proven albeit working with those large wafer sizes mistake-free...not so easy from what I read.
