I hear you. If DFS comes back in January and plays the rest of this year and next at a high level, I won’t care. But that’s IF. Right now it definitely sucks.

Ty Jerome...who also hasn't played this season, and is likely not going to get back onto the court until January, roughly the same time frame as DFS?

At the start of Free Agency, if you had to decide whether you needed a backup to Steven Adams, who can't play B2Bs, Tari Eason and 37-year old Kevin Durant, or Fred Van Vleet/Amen Thompson/Reed Sheppard, I probably also would have rolled the dice on investing in Bigs and Wings versus signing a depth guard. Unfortunate that it didn't quite work out in their favor, but if FVV was healthy, we absolutely would not have enough minutes for him, and there's a reasonable shot that he completely blocks Reed's breakout this year, since their skill sets seem to overlap a decent amount based on where they are in their careers.

Clint Capela has been laughably bad in these two games so far. Like, this is when it actually matters. I could care less what he did in the regular season. Showing up out of shape, mid-way through starts playing decent basketball, but he’s not allowed to suck in the playoffs. I never liked the signing, but if dude can’t get up for a game against Ayton (who publicly trashed him), what on earth is he on the roster for? Like what is the point of Clint Capela?

Let’s agree we need to move on from Clint and DFS. My question: do they have any trade value at all? 2nd round pick(s)?

What did Capela do or not do to deserve this hate? It is not like he shot 10% from the field or get dunked on by Bronny.

DFS and Capela are salary/trade fillers at this point.

I think the contracts of Smith and Capella are filler and don’t represent positive or negative value.

honestly if I had to choose one or the other, I would think slightly positive as they might be able to contribute at the back end of a rotation.

I'm not sure if Capela is being hated. He is a third string center and plays like one. Maybe if Ime played him more after Adams went down, his value would look better. But it did not really happen. So it seems that he remained a third string even when there's no second string. These big men are not hard to find.

Sadly. I do think that DFS is basically an expiring contract though with his guaranteed money which is nice.

Not hating on Capela I’m just wondering how he became so washed so fast? I remember he got the better of Gobert in the 2 playoff series and was a huge part of why we won. He’s a couple years younger than Gobert as well and it’s not like he had any major injuries from what I can remember.

he was washed when we signed him. U only needed to see how he played that last season in Atlanta. That’s why many of us thought it was a bad signing at the time. Was surprised we guaranteed 3 yrs.

Yes that’s what I mean. I knew he was washed prior to us signing him. Doesn’t make sense he became washed at like 30. He moves like Deke (RIP) in his couple yesrs with us.

Capela relied on his quickness and athleticism more than Gobert. He doesn't have Gobert's height and length to fall back on and has packed on 30 pounds since his rookie year. Playing like a pogo stick for 12 years at that weight must take its toll.

3/21 for a 3rd string C that can’t play in the playoffs is a hilarious waste of money

could’ve just signed Biyombo to a vet min for the same thing

You could’ve gotten similar production for less money but 7 million is chump change and to some extent I think he was signed to be filler later on.
