I’ll be surprised if the Lakers don’t pay him much more and keep him. They’d be better off paying him 20m than paying Reeves the 30+ he’s demanding. Rui might also demand 30m. He would be a strong target for the Rockets if I was GM
He shot 57% from 3 in the playoffs this year and 44% from 3 during the regular season. He was a playoff riser when given a bigger role. I'd be in the market for that.
He's always been a better player than he's given credit for. A two-way player who is absolutely lights out on wide open threes. His slow release prevents him from being as good of a floor spacer as he should be, and he also isn't as good of a rebounder as you'd like from a guy with his physical traits. Still a fine roleplayer though. I would happily sign-and-trade Tari for him if the Lakers want to play ball.
I doubt we could afford him but I'd 100% go for him if he was any way an option for us. Fills a huge need for our woeful shooting team. Obviously he'll shoot 32% after we sign him but it's not his fault lol
Rui played big in the playoffs. He's not worth $30 mil. He makes $17 mil now, he could make $20m. $30m is way too much. $25m is too much, too.
25m is probably the going rate for a very good role player. It is what Jabari gets, it’s what Tari probably would have got, if he was healthy. The market is what it is and the Rockets better start playing in it.
I would tend to agree. He played well in the Playoffs, and has shot it all year. Looks good in LA. We don't want to be on the hook for what he'll cost though.
Nah, we already had the Philippine Kobe and he turned out to be one of the most worthless pieces of trash I've ever seen.
On the opposite end of the spectrum is Pistons big man Jalen Duren, who's played himself out of millions after an All-Star year.
