On the flip side, curious to see what Myers does. Giving him interim power seems based on his association with the Warriors, but I don't think he's generally viewed as the one responsible for their success. I don't care that much, because both these guys kind of seem like dicks, but it will be interesting objectively to see what happens down the road.
Myers ran away the moment he actually had to do something (and obviously failed miserably because he's terrible), which was actually very smart.
Morey drafted Maxey at like #22 in the draft. The guy has averaged 27-28 points a game the last couple of years. Morey also has him under contract for years. He is better than anyone the Rockets have drafted with like 5-6 picks in the top 4 of the draft. He also drafted VJ Edgecomb, who is on his way to being very good. He extended Paul George when he should have waited and Joel Embiid is always hurt. Couple that with Bob Meyers wanting to call the shots on who runs the basketball side. Don’t tell Bob Myers he isn’t responsible for the Warriors. Honestly, Jerry West and Mark Jackson were a big part of it.
I've seen you post this twice now, didn't he just sign Paul George outright during free agency? I don't remember him actually extending him, just gave him a long lucrative deal.
To be clear, I have no relevant knowledge or experience. It just reminds me of the types of mistakes people make in my line of work, using something as a proxy for being good that doesn't reflect reality, or at least grossly oversimplifies it. In reality I think a lot of things had to go right/lucky for the Golden State dynasty to happen. Again though, I have no idea what I'm talking about. Not sure why I post here really.
Sixers are in the East, do you know Rockets are 23-7 vs the East? I bet Amen and Sengun would look like superstars feasting in the Leastern conference instead of facing SAS, OKC, Nuggets and Wolves 3x a year. Maxey also has a good coach in Nick Nurse, someone who actually has an analytics based motion offense instead of having defense be the offense. VJ Edgecomb is worse than Kon Kneuppel, there was just no wrong draft choice at no 3 as it was between Kon, VJ or Bailey.
This got him canned. Mccain was shooting 56 percent from 3 last 6 games with the sixers. He was giving our first round picks like candy. Stone gave away our pick too. Owner is too dumb to realize it.
F*** it. Bring him back Tilman. He has his flaws but knows how to assemble talent that fits together and build a roster. I'm still not sure that we can say the same for Stone. If not for that CP3 hamstring and Harden's lack of clutch gene, we'd have a recent title in Houston thanks to him.
This is a fact, not an opinion. People don't understand that a lot of moves that teams make are ownership driven and not GM driven. It's why the phrase "ownership is the biggest competitive advantage" is all so true
Really depends who the Sixers draft at 22 this year. There’s a decent chance they end up better than McClain. Btw the 22nd pick was originally the Rockets
Stone gave away what pick? #10 for KD ? #6 from Brooklyn? This pick is from the Westbrook trade. Morey gave away this pick under immense pressure from Tilman and James Harden and got it back in Philly, probably was a weird full circle moment for him. His comments here are very unbecoming and just another example of him treating players like assets instead of humans unless they are stars.
You seriously believe this? It would be a complete fluke if the #22 pick in the draft were better than Jared McCain. Did you see what he did in half a season at OKC and against the Lakers in the 2nd round in limited time?
the Sixers hired this guy to clean up Morey's mess bob meyers helped to build a Warriors team to win 4 rings, rumors abound that the results-oriented Guggenheim Partners, Inc, who owns the Dodgers and Lakers, is losing patience with Rob Pelinka, Lakers' President of Basketball Op and considering hiring Meyers to replace Pelinka.
