Morey is incredibly overrated. He orchestrated one of the greatest trades of all time. Otherwise, he’s been an average to below average GM.

To me what the rockets accomplished in that series, taking the best team in sports history to 7 games and having that team need foster to beat them is the most impressive accomplishment in my time as an nba fan. The only one that even compares would be 2011 dirk, but that miami team was nothing compared to the warriors. Lebron managed zero wins against that team. Prime, GOAT level Lebron, zero wins.

If Morey was the GM, he would’ve traded sengun, green, Jabari and possibly amen a long time ago. He knows you need stars to contend for championships. He wouldn’t try to convince himself or the fans that sengun is the next jokic.

Rockets couldn’t beat either iteration though. Simply saying they’re a great team is defeatist to me. Yes Morey and MDA had a flawed offensive philosophy of simply shooting threes or driving and built a team of non drivers except for CP3, gordon, Harden. Yes Foster cheated. But despite all that. Despite all that we still were in position to win and didn’t do it.
CP3 wasn't on the 2016 rockets, 2017-1018 was his 1st season on the team. Durant joined the warriors in 2016-2017. The cp3 rockets never played the warriors without durant.
He was an innovator and changed the way the game is played, but now everyone plays moreyball, so he has no advantage now.
I know that. My point is the Rockets did not beat the Warriors with 4 different Rockets teams and 2 coaches. Couldn’t do it. Said he was obsessed with them and then gave us inferior products and flawed philosophy. He always came up short and that’s his legacy. Had 18-19 playoffs to avenge 2018 but lost.
