Honestly - I think he inability to pick coaches
and his inability to be looser with the 3 and layup policy
It was a good policy but could have used some tweaking

I like the Coaches for the most part but all were flawed
DanAndToni sucked on Defense - Big Bzdelic was the remedy
MilkHair was MilkHair - Not an X's and O's guru
I liked Rick the Ruler - felt he needed more time

He gambles more than we would like. He could find a diamond in the ruff
but more often than not he found useful metals
I think he optimized them in the philosophy but their limitations showed up in the playoffs

Even when James was the best player in a series
The other team was alot the time better 2-5
That always caught up with us

He's an above average GM, but he's clearly a level below the top guys like Presti, Wolves GM, Brad Stephens, etc.

This is dumb. Maxey, VJ, McCain ( let's be real here the owner told them to duck the tax) all great picks. He fielded a solid team even with the Embid and PG injuries. The drop off is big after Presti and Stephens and Morey is still a top 10 GM.

This dude should of just stayed in Houston. Owner would of kept him around as long as he wanted too.

Would a Daryl Morey team ever make it to the finals?

He drafted Tyrese Maxey, VJ Edgecomb and McCain.

He has evaluation talent that this FO does not have.

His obsession with stars sucks but I would take him back in a different role. This front office could clearly use more voices. Right now its Ime and Patrick controlling everything and the Rockets have 0 depth and an awkward defense first team that will never succeed. Bring Daryl back in a different role, maybe even an advisory one.

He was always good at finding talent around the edge he just made too many moves to make a move (the opposite of Stone), he also rebuilt the Rockets without tanking. I do not like how he left but the Rockets DESPERATELY need some more voices in the FO and they clearly aren't firing anyone.

Drafting was good, but he also did things like signing Paul George at that enormous contract.

Hit pieces coming out about how Embid is blaming FO for losing McCain. While I'm sure Jared was well liked in the locker room, Embid is smarter to know if he and PG didn't take that much money, then cheapo owner wouldn't have to ask Daryl to make sacrifices and skim on the role players.

A GM is given a budget to work with. I'm never mad at a player (or his agent) for asking the most for his worth (finite time in the NBA). But if they squeeze the org to its last drop, they don't get to complain when their front office can't field a team properly.

Morey made the decision to go to the Sixers - he knew what the situation was.

I don't blame him for a lot of the moves made -- for example Embiid, that deal was happening no matter what.

The deal for Paul George was considered a steal at the time --- his big mistake was extending him when he did not need to do so.

I figured that the Maxey and Edgecomb picks would give him time, but apparently not.

I really would like to see Morey take over a team and rebuild it from the bottom up -

    Stop culting.

With the Sixers he leaked that he was going to trade Maxey or wasn't worth a max. VJ fell on his lap because the other guy didn't want to go there. He gave away Mccain for peanuts which fits his foible.

This is speculation on parts of philly local media. The current wind is saying if FO clean house, it''ll be the whole house including Elton.

    ---
Going by previous years data, their analytics dept was praised as among the best in the league. Part of reason how they landed a Maxey, and others, so if new FO, I can see the stats dept. kept around. At least I would if I was the new GM.

But like anything if they were Morey hires and Morey goes to another team, Daryl might job offer few of those analytical guys to come with him. And I wouldn't fault Daryl for trying.

Ime did the same to bring his BOS coaching bench to the Rockets.

The firing of Daryl Morey has Bob Myers finger prints all over it. He was not a big fan of Daryl when he was with the Warriors.

I will be curious to see what Daryl does. First time in his life he has been fired from what I can tell.
