We have every southern state trying to block the black vote, EVERY ONE of them - it is like racism never left, and clearly it didn't.

Are there enough white folks to put these racist asshats back in the shadows where they belong?

We shall see, but we are going backwards, and the GOP is complicit, they have gone full on racism - it is no longer about politics it is completely racist GOP vs folks who believe in the Constitution where everyone is created equal.

Racism isn’t the primary objective. It’s remaining in power with a diminishing voter base. This has been coming for a long time and it’s coming to a head now.

It is the driving reason for MAGA - Racism.

Are there enough white people that believe everyone is equal.

It is inherently racist to draw districts based on race. Any race. Which is why SCOTUS rejected the premise.

I can't believe this has to be explained! Liberals are just blinded by emotion -- their brains don't function when their illegal voting schemes get struck down. It's highly predictable! And sooooo enjoyable to watch. When you've cheated for that long, a level playing field suddenly feels unfair!

Oh, and Democrats are far more racist than Republicans. It's not even close.

Hmm, so what do you think is going to happen to the Black districts that are being carved up as we speak solely so that the Republicans can hold onto power? Do you think those Black neighborhoods are going to see more in the way of resources? A sudden influx of cash? New schools and projects once they lose their representatives--and voice?

I know your answer is going to be complete BS. Hopefully others will think about that though and see this evil for what it is.

The driving reason for MAGA is it’s a cult of ‘us’ vs ‘them’ hate, them being whoever Trump says to hate that week. They do whatever he says. If Trump told his followers to get naked and have gay orgies in Walmart parking lots on Sundays as a form of worship, they would do it.

You can't break racism out of a fascist movement - the concept of an in group and an out group is a defining feature.

You simply have to break the movement when you have your chances

The citizens of the black districts are not being disenfranchised. They continue to maintain their right to vote. They continue to be represented in the House. Or are you so racist as to believe that only black representatives will vote to send financial resources to majority-black districts? If so, then WOW. That is truly a racist way of thinking... and actually scary in reverse at how a black representative with this mindset would think purely out of racial self interest and ONLY send money to their own race(?!). Honestly, a person with that mindset should not be a House member. It is time to level up your critical thinking, amigo!

If the practical effect is that black voters are far less likely to have their preferred representative elected because of partisan redistricting, then their voting power has been diluted in a real sense even if they can still formally cast vote.

The problem is that this allows for maps to be engineered to disadvantage minority voters, but in a way that maintains deniability. Ultimately, the right way to guard against it while removing race from the equation is to change the system to be more proportional in representation for districts that have diverse political preferences.

We all took history class in high school and we all know that the racist Democrats became Republicans when LBJ enacted Civi Rights legislation. Please don't post this again

Their voting power was not diluted. Each person maintain his/her right to vote. Their race's influence on voting was artificially inflated for decades due to the now unconstitutional mandate that blacks get their own special House districts. Now that influence is brought back to a level playing field with every other race.

Surely you can see a problem with Asians getting their own House districts, Latinos getting their own district, Pacific Islanders getting their own district, Whites getting their own district, etc, etc. So why should blacks get their own districts? The courts have ruled that this is racial preference, which is not legal. And it's a fair and just ruling.

Do you think Republicans should have their own districts which Trump asked Republican governors to gerrymander districts for?

As a reminder, Democrat gerrymandering far exceeds Republican gerrymandering even after these latest adjustments. There isn't a single Republican representative in the Northeast, as an example, despite ~40% of voters being Republican.

Democrats hate even a little bity taste of their own medicine!

This has always been a racist country. We have a deep history of it with a history of slavery, a Civil War fought, and a civil rights movement that has been essentially overturned. Essentially a cold civil war where the confederacy essentially won by putting into play mechanisms and institutions that would ensure the confederacy had structural advantage to win the long game even though they technically lost the hot war.

MAGA is just the latest iteration of that confederacy wing of the country fighting to protect the power of the elites and their white racist followers. MAGA might die out, and there might be some return to something that looks like the post civil rights era United States, but you are a fool if you think the confederacy/MAGA spirit in this country will not again and again come back to fight for their blood and soil bullsh$t.
