I will probably stop paying attention to the big league team if Houston loses this series. I’m not optimistic. Imai and McCullers in back to back games is a recipe for disaster.
McCullers badly needs to be moved to the pen where I think he would be relatively useful. Too bad that's not happening.
Yeah, why schedule it that way?! Bullpen is being asked to pick up way too many innings already and one of the better long guys, Tang, probably won't be available until later in the series, if at all after yesterday's start.
Can they avoid another sweep? Series feels like it is the nail....do they some how pull off a series W and keep us watching with some hope (AL West is that bad)...or is it hammered in. The Astros have 4 series wins this season....2 of them were vs the Red Sox.
Postgame mentioned that a 2-win stretch vs SEA-ARL could equal heads rolling, namely Espada. It was hideous the Astros couldn't muster ONE win in 4 chances the first series. That outcome *is* the Mariners current lead, and half the Astros current games under 500. Espada gives zero aura of any leadership, smarts, or sheer will. No brains or brawn.
The best thing to happen to the Astros organization is to go like 2-8 in their next 10. Cam Smith needs to be sent down. Paredes and Walker need to play well so they can be traded for lower level minor leaguers. Jeremy Pena needs to come back and play well to the all star break so he can be moved. Josh Hader and Hunter Brown and Ime Tatsuya all need to get healthy and just play well -- their futures will be figured out later. This team is DEAD, regardless of everyone being terrible next to them. Lose and get a top 5 pick.
3-1-and 1-3 might work too if postgame had any truth. One-3 would force a Series-win vs Rangers to make 3+ wins possible this stretch. Chances of that after 1-3 ???...... 10-15%. New manager could be the biggest and quickest difference even if the players terrible. Espada just seems overmatched.
