Send him to Orlando so he can hang out at Harry Potter world. Rockets' Alperen Sengun magic comes from his Harry Potter fandom - Yahoo Sports Not sure why his fandom bothers me so much.
Jesus this Fan base is dumb we can have two top five picks in 2027 there is no franchise player on our team we can just ran it back but keep both suns and nets 2027 pick and if we can get #1 & #2 we will finally be able to compete with okc and spurs.
We had four top 5 picks and don’t have a franchise player. I like the idea of those picks but they don’t guarantee a good player.
We don't have a franchise player because we failed to get the #1 overall pick in every single draft, with the new odds going into effect next season and the nets being average or suns being average next year will increase our odds at top 5 hell if one of them turn into #1 overall we can finally have our chance
the #1 overall pick isn’t the only pick where you get a franchise player if you’re getting multiple picks in the top 4, the hope is that you can manage to at least get 1…Rockets had 4 top 4 selections and didn’t even come close hell, the last pick we got was a freaking small, streaky shooting bench player that can’t defend in Reed Sheppard at #3…you can get that at pick #30
Would you for Irving, Christie, Dallas 26 pick, Dal 28 pick for Sengun, Sheppard? Would Dallas? Would you for Embid, Maxey for Sengun, KD, FVV, Sheppard? Would Phili? Would you for Okongwu, NAW, 26 NOP(8th) for Sengun, Reed (via atl trade exception)?
Every single #1 pick besides Zaccharie Risacher in recent starting from 2019 to now has been a franchise player
If you look at the 2020s there have been 6 drafts. The guys drafted that i would categorize as true franchise players (meaning guys that can be by far the best player on a consistent champion contender) have been: 2025 (Flagg, you could exclude him if you want as we don't know for sure yet), 2024 - nobody, 2023 - Wemby, 2022 - nobody, 2021 - Cade, 2020 - Ant (if you reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeally stretch it you could say haliburton but i would not). The lowest any of those players was drafted was 1st. You'd have to go back to 2018 to have a true franchise player drafted that went lower then 1st (Luka, who was by far the best prospect and only dropped for non basketball reasons, and Shai who went 11th).
I guess the argument is that there have been no surefire top 5 players so far out of any of the draft classes since we started the rebuild except for Cade and Wemby, who we never had a chance to pick. The Jalens Duren, Johnson, and Williams would have all been very nice pickups, albeit they were later on in the first round and would have been quite the reach against consensus. Hard to say where those three will cap out, too.
Banchero shows up in the playoffs let me know when Sengun has a better playoff then him and when healthy and not hurt zion is unstoppable
I’m not saying they can’t be #1s, you just aren’t guaranteed. And while the Nets pick will probably have the best odds of being #1, there’s no guarantee that will happen, either. It’s actually more likely that it won’t. It’s a good leverage pick right now. I was just throwing out a possibility on what we could offer the Nets for their pick back and try to win that elusive championship while we have Durant. I don’t think this front office sees him as the placeholder some fans do.
atp, forget legitimate franchise or top 5 players, we had all these top 4 picks and weren’t even getting just regular stars Jalen? Nowhere close and booted after just 4 seasons Jabari? Just a role player who excels at nothing Reed Sheppard? Bench shooter Amen? The only one who might be a star, but his perimeter shooting is so horrendous teams guard him like
You're not wrong It could be worse though, we could be paying Keegan Murray $140M. At least we clear one of the worst poverty franchises in the league!
