Can he really be more than just a dunker spot guy though? I'm not going to post all the shot charts again that show there's no evidence of that, read the KD thread I already posted them in. His shot chart is legit 90's backup center, all dunker spot, below league average everywhere else on the court. Hampering the team in the current NBA by overpaying that kind of player is pure madness.
Then let's wait until RFA and see. If next season looks like Amen will get the max, then we try to get Ausar for below 30 instead.
Id take Giannis for 2 years, than over pay for Amen, and be locked up on a guy who cant shoot worth a lick. Did you see his wide open jumper in the lakers series? He will never be a that guy, with that kinda of jumper.
This is the crux of my argument, but the Amen circle jerk are too busy wiping spunk out of their eyes to understand it. "YoU dOn'T KnoW BaLL" is all they have, because they can't do basic reading.
That's actually not even a bad idea, wonder if we can get a decent bench shooter for the extra 15 mil on Amen's contract from them?
I'd expand on that and say the team that pays the Thompson twin the max will be outperformed by the team that pays the Thompson twin their actual worth by quite some margin.
The leverage Amen has is that other teams will also overpay him if the Rockets don't. So, the Rockets will have to seriously consider trading him.
I’m a BIG Rockets fan as well, but I’m on here being rude to people. It doesn’t matter what you want. The Rockets will do whatever they think is best. No need to get in arguments over it. Do I think Amen is a max player? No, not right now. Do I think the Rockets will offer a max extension to Amen? No, I expect them to offer him a Sengun-type extension. Something around 3yr $105m w/ a player option. Will I cry about it if he gets a max extension? No.
Good for you? So what exactly was the point of the interjection then if you don't care at all? Literally begging for an argument despite your above statement?
Remember when Amen said he was working on his jumper all last offseason? He somehow shot worse from 3 this year at 21% than last year where he was 28%
That's because contrary to the Amen circle-jerk, players who average between 5-10% less than league average from every spot on the court that isn't underneath the basket don't actually have any shooting potential.
I’m honestly not concerned with his 3pt%. I am hyper focused on his mid-range shooting. I’m not sure Amen ever becomes a respectable 3pt shooter; maybe at the corners someday. But I believe he can develop a mid-range. And if he does that, he’s an all-nba player. Looking forward to seeing the shooting progress next season. The FT% progress was excellent this past season, which is a good sign.
He's not even high percentage from close range, never mind mid range. Literally just directly under the basket. See visual aids for help: He's pretty much just bad from everywhere, regardless of what people think his FT shooting shows in terms of potential. Slightly above league average in the restricted area though, so that's a "bonus" I guess...
