Sports are getting to be pointless. You need a league where it becomes fair, and i notice for some reason,
these big execs have help the rich get richer, and talented. Why the fair weather teams get worse. Stupid leagues.

Yet it luck of the draft id assume not much you can do. Astros got lucky with drafting and became close to one, so atleast
we know what it felt like for a bit.

OKC found a better prospect at pick #38 than we did with Reed Sheppard at pick #3

Honestly thou, it's not like Stone actually really thinks FVV is anything special. He knows damn well it's just an excuse for his incompetence. He is probably still hoping some way some how one of his $hit picks magically becomes decent.

 

Slight tangent on FVV. Sure FVV is older now. Technically developed under Masai. In Toronto, Masai did develop a farm system over there. Some of the success stories were Siakim and FVV. DeRozen, Kyle Lowry, few others found their way over there. I'm a little weary, he might do the same for the Mavs.

The problem here isn't always the pick, Stone can pick Reed or Castle or whomever. But if the development system is lacking, whatever head start Reed and Bari had in their college system eventually won't matter as they stagnate after they're in the NBA.

That's the core issue. The coaches have to have a better track record of developing young guys. Castle in our system, will not look as good as on the Spurs. Ime's crew is an improvement over Silas, but still lacking comparing to the likes of the Thunder.

Ime likes the vets (FVV, Adams, KD) because he doesn't have to develop them. They're pre-built. Like pre-cooked meals you can stick in a microwave.

The good GMs understands the difference between good coaches from great coaches. Some GMs are better talkers than understanding the nuances of the job. Did Stone learn after hiring Silas, I'm sure he did. Hopefully some growth after that experience. But it's like the number of years a guy has to have on his mistakes, and go from inexperienced to competent, vs hiring a more qualified GM to begin with. Just years and time wasted, and the fans have to suffer through it.

 

Stone saw how much Udoka was better than Silas and thought he found gold. It's like seeing how KPJ was much better than lottery talent Nix and thought he found gold.

 

Failed rebuild would be the Kings.

 

I wonder how Jabari, Jalen, Reed, and Sengun would have developed if they had San Antonio or OKC coaching...

 

Austin Reaves probably should've just sat out the playoffs. He'll probably still end up getting a decent contract but it's probably taking a slight hit getting exposed like this vs the Thunder.

 

In a free market, somebody's gonna pay the guy a ton of money.
