Which is why I think he would fit perfect in Miami with Bam. The perfect trade for BOTH teams would be Sengun for Herro, Ware and a #1
I'd agree he's a power forward if this was 1998. But these days, guys as small as Jalen Williams are playing PF. You have to be able to shoot now to play PF and Sengun can't shoot. Jabari, Tari and Durant are all more typical power forwards in the modern NBA. They are all even on the larger side for a modern power forward. That said, you could afford to play him at PF if a.) You aren't playing him on the same team that heavily features Amen Thompson and b.) You have a center who can spread the floor. But we are and we don't.
I do think Adebayo is the perfect frontcourt partner for Sengun and suggested a trade like this before. I’m not sure Stone would think that would be enough for Sengun and it might not be, if Ware turns out to be pedestrian. I would give Miami Sengun and 3 frp’s for Adebayo, but probably not enough for Pat.
Pat wouldn’t give up Herro for Harden. 31-32. Coming off 2 years ago from mvp season. He will offer Wiggins and say that’s it. Stone will accept.
Even 90s PFs had a midrange game. Sengun is a center that plays well with some other centers because they can help him on defense and his best skill is low post passing.
Adebayo would be a great fit on our team, but yea it doesn't sound like Pat would want to move on from him.
I’d rather have Wiggins and Ware than Herro and Ware. I think we can get more for Sengun, and I don’t think Pat gives up Ware for KD.
I think he's in the vicinity of some of the power forwards in the 90s and 00s, especially if you imagine that most the three pointers he does take would have been midrange shots instead in that era. IIRC Alpi takes around three or four midrange + three point shots per game, so that would be 20% or so of his shot attempts overall. He's bad at making those shots efficiently, but so were some of the all-star power forwards of the era we're talking about.
I'm not talking efficiency, I'm just talking basic skill/ability. Comparing CWebb/KG/Pau/etc mid range to Sengun's is like comparing DWade to Amen. One can shoot them and one cannot. Sengun regularly passes up wide open mid range jumpers or pump fakes because he just doesn't have that ability yet.
Probably both. Depends on the personnel around him. At the 5 you essentially need to surround him with 4 two-way players who can all make the 3. At the 4 you need to pair him with a stretch 5 who can protect the rim plus 3 two way players who can all make the 3.
That's a funny comparison, because Amen actually isn't that far off of D-Wade on midrange to this point in their respective careers. Wade was not a good midrange shooter. He was regularly under 40% on midrange jumpers. I think people have rose-colored glasses about a lot of these players from previous eras and how good they actually were at converting on those shots. They took a lot more of them, but the percentages for many of these guys were not good. (There were of course some players who actually were highly efficient at it, but that was not the norm.)
They will need to find a Defensive Center, but it will probably cost the rockets Jabari etc... He needs to be move to PF asap.
He is the weirdest hybrid, can only do hookshots, his midrange is not even that consistent. He is pretty good at checking Centers for a PF.
