This is a real thing.

Evan Mobley is an all-star player - he is able to cover up a lot of poor defensive mistakes by Mitchell and now Harden.

However, the super max is something that should be reserved for the top 10-15 players in the league, it is crippling.

It used to be maxing out any all-star was a smart move, not anymore.

The Rockets will regret it if they give it to Amen Thompson, he isn't Cunningham or Flag or Edwards. That kind of contract is toxic.

 

People laughed at me when I suggested Mobley's high hips/high ass meant he would have trouble creating leverage....He can make it work during the regular season but 10 rebounds and 0 FTs in 2 playoff games this series.... oof. He's like JJJ without the 3 point spacing....

Stone ain't a top 10 GM, but he doesn't hand bad, long term contracts.

 

Mobley looks really bad in this series, and really for the season as a whole. The regression on his jump shooting this season and inability to bulk up and get stronger and more skilled in the paint makes it look like he's hardly improved at all since his rookie season.

 

The solution is simple…needs to get tatted up.

 

I had a feeling the grimy, gritty physicality of the Pistons and the presence of Jalen Duren might knock Allen and Mobley off the tracks a bit, but Mobley's disappearing act on the boards in a desperate game 2 for the Cavs was breathtaking. The loss definitely wasn't all on him though.

I think the Cavs will go out of their way to get him off to a good start in game 3.

 

He’s a fraud and has always been a fraud. He’s just lucky he can hide from media bashing since he’s in Cleveland.

 

Mobley landed in a great situation as a rookie. Few high picks could join a good team. He wasn't relied on boosting up a bad offense like a lot of high picks drafted by bad teams. Just play defense and rebound. And that got him a max contract.
