The bar to impeachment conviction is high for a reason. The Founding Fathers did not want it used as a political tool to reward whoever had a majority at the moment. The best way to fix it does indeed include Constitutional amendments though. We need one driving a stake through the heart of the unitary executive theory and all it's b*stard offshoots. It needs to include language that nullifies the Supreme Court's presidential immunity decision. However, the heavy lifting has to be done by us all at the ballot box and every day between elections. We simply cannot accept authoritarian, Nazi-curious people in elected office. The real failure here is not the impeachment clause, but the corrupt Republican Congress that gave their power to one man and those Americans who are just fine with it. That cannot happen again. (Supreme Court reform would be good too.)
The 2024 ballot box gave us a President who tried to overthrow the prior election, so I have my doubts "the electorate" will save us. A POTUS who has a make Me attitude, who thinks the DoJ is his own personal law firm and who is not shy about using the military against US citizens may be beyond the control of the Constitution.
