If we were to go the GA route in attempting to win over the next couple years.

Sengun/Capela/DFS/Adams(route one center to a third team)/Better of the 2029 first round picks top 8 protected. For Giannis and AJ Green. Re-Sign Tari.

Sign Olynyk and another cheap big that is the anti Kelly O.

Smith plays center 20 min a game. Giannis 10. Between Olympics and a defensive 5, the other minutes as well.

Smith/Olynyk/Someone 7’1 that can block shots
    Giannis/Eason
    Durant/Okogie
    Thompson/AJ Green
    Reed/FVV/Davidson

If Amen Thompson doesn't take over the scoring and fix his form on his jumpshot. Should he be traded for a boatload of picks and start a different rebuild.

Amen with a passable jumper would be close to a perfect player so I would be patient and give him one more season.

If I want to re-tool I would begrudgingly trade Sengun before Amen. Having a C who can’t protect the rim is a FAR bigger liability than an otherwise excellent wing who can’t shoot. Teams have won titles with poor-shooting high usage wings/guards/forwards (Jordan, Wade, Giannis). No one as far as I can remember has ever won a ring with a rim protector of Sengun’s caliber. The worst rim protector to ever win a ring is probably Jokic and he’s a universe better than Sengun in drop coverage.

If I’m betting on either Amen becoming a 33% shooter or Sengun becoming an above average rim protector, I bet on Amen.

I’m very interested in trading Sengun for Myles Turner + a good pick + a mediocre pick. We have all our future picks plus another pick. Combined with the two from Milwaukee I believe we’d have 6 tradable picks. Holding all those picks for 1-2 more upgrades and this starting lineup is a future I can be excited about:

    Turner/Adams
    Durant/DFS
    Jabari/Tari
    Amen
    FVV/Sheppard

Best defense in the NBA + Paint is cleared for Amen to attack rather than pull up + 6 picks to upgrade.

This would be great, but I doubt Milwaukee would bite. I think they realize they need a stretch five to play with Giannis if they can keep him. He might be willing to return if they got KD. We wouldn’t get Turner in return, but Durant for their 26 pick(if it’s around 10) plus Portis and Kuzma might get their attention and satisfy Giannis. We could then turn around and trade Sengun, for more draft capital and a young guy like Ware or Okongwu.

Ime and Stone are setting us up for the dreaded treadmill of mediocrity. Good enough for 1st or maybe 2nd round playoff exits. No chance of going any further.

That in it self is sorta pathetic. Durant or Not, there stuck in the better lower end of west, with really nothing to do, and if **** hits the fan next season, you could really see this team not making the playoffs.

You might want to start making major changes this summer.
Broke down FVV and Adams coming off season ending injures are not going to propel you anywhere
    next year either.

Why would Minnesota do this? Both players have been really great for them this year, younger than Kd, and they are making a run in the playoffs. they both are expiring contracts next year for less than KD so they are not albatross contracts.

The Lakers had a few asterisks and they clearly had both offensive and defensive game plans to maximize the capabilities of the players they had available. They went up 3-0 without Austin Reaves. Ime spent the entire season planning for FVV to come back next year and refusing to gameplan how to get Sengun the ball in the post or extract the maximum value out of the roster he had.

Ime was a clown for having Jae'sean Tate on the floor in the closing minute of a playoff basketball game. Tate is a great guy, but he's a spot 13-15 on the bench kind of guy, and shouldn't see playoff minutes for any reason but garbage time in a blowout.

How much of that was Ime telling Reed he wouldn't be seeing the court unless he turned himself into the defensive stopper that Ime values over such peasant concerns as ball-handling and PnR skills?

I’m sure u are right. I’m not criticizing Reed. He’s got the right mentality. How can one not like this kid? My criticism is that he was clearly not BPA at #3, and that we don’t have good player development to help him. He got little to no development last season, and this season we threw him in the deep end of the pool, but it was completely disjointed. No support. Incredibly short leash. Not enough minutes until the 2nd half of the season. Reed is gonna have to take a huge leap this season and I just don’t trust Ime to get the best version of Reed. Handles actualky needs to be the #1 thing he should be working on. He has no future without tighter handles. I just think our player development is crap. I don’t trust us to do right by any of our developmental prospects and that scares me with a player like Reed. Very frustrating.

I think they bite but only because I don’t think they will keep Giannis. Once he’s gone I think they would be happy to acquire a 24 year old two time all star at any position. They stop needing a stretch 5 while we get the one we’re always going to need with this roster. If Giannis stays I don’t think they go for it you’re right.

I don’t know if I’d do the Portis + Kuzma + ‘26 pick but it’s an interesting one. I’m not sure that team would make the playoffs (top 6) and that’s too much regression for my liking. Interesting to think about though.

    The player to trade is Sengun! And from what Ive been hearing, there are three teams that make sense;

    Charolette Hornets out
Brandon Miller, Miles Bridges and a #1

    Houston Rockets out
    Sengun and JD Davidson

    Rockets new roster
    C- FA,Adams,Capela
    PF - Jabari, Tari
    SF - KD, Bridges
    SG - Miller, Reed
    PG - Thompson, FVV

You have premier length, athleticism and shooting and a strong, scoring bench. Just need a shot blocking and rebounding center. You can trade DFS for a center as well

    Miami Heat out
    Herro, Ware and a #1

    Houston Rockets out
    Sengun

    Rockets new roster

    C- Ware, Adams, Capela
    PF- Jabari, Tari
    SF - KD, DFS
    SG- Herro, Reed
    PG- Thompson, FVV

Both Ware and Herro shoot +36% from 3pt, thus giving Thompson room to maneuver in the paint w/Sengun gone. The Rockets will have improved shooting and a shot blocking presence in the middle

    Washington Wizards out
    AD and a 2028 #1

    Houston Rockets out
Sengun, DFS, Capela, and JD Davidson

    Rockets new roster

    C- AD, Adams, FA/Rookie
    PF - Jabari, Tari
    SF - KD, DFS
    SG - Thompson, FA
    PG - FVV, Reed

    PLEASE, JUST STAY HEALTHY!

    I love #1, I like #2 and Im mid on #3

I feel you, and I share your concerns about his development, and the failure of the Rockets in general to develop young players.

    So much wasted draft capital.

For the last 5 years, rockets had 4 top picks and many more 1st rounds. Either they picked wrong guys or couldn't develop young talents.

The team atmosphere is not helping anyone to perform their best and Durant move surely made things worse for everyone including himself.

Whether it's salvageable or not, a solid plan is needed. Current front office proved they can't pull it off time and time again.

    Trading ****ing
AD for Sengun makes no sense in nutshell. You are basically destroying any hope of contention, and moving back into rebuild mode.

AD would literally ride that bench!
