VIROLOGIST: “It’s bizarre, Hantavirus almost never jumps from human to human like this. Usually it’s from coming into contact with rat feces or something.” CRUISE SHIP CHEF: “Yeah, that’s crazy, it must’ve mutated or something.”
No joke! Imagine all the money they spent on top of it to go to Antarctica. I'd be terrified on that ship. Hantavirus is a gruesome illness, and 40% don't even live from it. Some strains have a 60% fatality rate. Honestly, there could have been mice on the ship spreading the virus. People can get it breathing airborne particles off the rodent droppings.
Unfortunately I have family on both sides that love to cruise, and I can tell you that literally every cruise we have ever been on at least half of the people in our party come down with some sort of sickness during or coming off of the cruise. They are human petri dishes. The last cruise I was on, a dude literally puked all over the hand washing station area by the buffet entrance. The irony there speaks for itself.
Epidemiologist: “Update on the hantavirus situation: As of this morning, the hantavirus is confirmed to be Andes virus, which does have the ability to spread person to person. We also have a clue that this is spreading person to person because the ship doctor got it, who likely didn't get off the ship. BUT this isn't a covid situation for two reasons: 1. Data shows that when it spreads, it’s when people are reallyyyy close contact. Think like a nurse treating a patient or sleeping with someone 2. This virus doesn't mutate quickly, which is also good news. We will likely see more cases, ad it takes a while for hantavirus biology to play out, but for now the WHO is assuming all 150 passengers have been exposed. The risk of this situation remains to be low.”
So we getting mushroom zombies, alien zombies, classic virus zombies, evil dead zombies, amalgamation zombies, frozen zombies, fast zombies, improbably fat zombies…? I just need to know.
Hantavirus has a 30-40% mortality btw. If it spreads in the states we are fking doom. Too many antivaxxers and selfish folks to do an actual quarantine. It can take up to 8 weeks to develop. Our countrymen and magatards cant even wear a mask for covid, they r just gonna spread this sht and btch about stupid liberals.
Human to human transmission is rare but it seems like folks on the ship have the strain where it makes it possible. Hopefully we do not let those fking folks off the ship bc they r gonna spread it like fking plague inc. I do not have faith in this administration and our fellow countrymen to practice precaution if this sht starts spreading. If we don't practice precaution anything could spread with antivaxxers and folks who downplay it. Measles was suppose to b eliminated in the US and it came back.
No worries, ivermectin will be made available for online purchase without a prescription, with payment upfront and delivery not guaranteed, depending on availability.
There is no vaccine for deadly hantavirus: what that means for future outbreaks How long has your team been working on hantavirus vaccines? Because these viruses are rodent-borne and pose a risk to troops on the ground, the military has long wanted a vaccine. I work at the US Army Medical Research Institute of Infectious Diseases, which has been working on hantavirus vaccines since around the 1980s.
