I can picture it now KD texting about Brown not being able to hit his threes and Brown asking for a trade. Can't wait lol
As long as we keep Amen & Jabari I don’t care who we trade for. Brown would be one of the best guards we could get but at what cost
I actually think Sengun would be a very nice fit on their team--it might almost be the best existing team construction out there to make Sengun work as a #2 option. They have the shooting (#2 in three pointers made per game) and the defense (#4 in team defensive rating) to cover for his deficiencies. Now, would that make them as good or better as keeping both Jays together? Probably not, because those two are simply better players than Sengun is right now. There's not really a compelling basketball reason to break those two up. What might cause them to consider it (although I still doubt it) would be more to do with future financials & personality issues. Sengun is getting paid a lot less than Tatum or Brown, and he's locked up long term. That makes it a lot easier to field a competitive roster in today's restrictive CBA. There's also this weird push and pull thing that's going on between the Jays where clearly both of them want to be the #1 option. Still, I think Sengun + salary + picks is a compelling enough offer relative to what other teams might put on the table, if Boston were to decide to trade one of those two players. The fit is fine on their roster, he's young enough to imagine future improvement, and he's already a fringe all-star caliber player. What teams would want to make the trade and be positioned to offer a similar or better package? Orlando, maybe?
Who knows what they'll do but I wouldnt do that. Dont get me wrong I think Sengun has overachieved for a 16th pick but for Brown nah.
lol I wouldn’t say he’s untouchable but I think he is a solid stretch 4 we could lock into the position for a decade. Trading multiple starters + picks for Brown sounds more like spinning the wheel than improvement I’d prefer something like Reed, Tari S&T, FVV, and picks for Brown. Would do Sengun & Reed. I’m not including Amen or Jabari + a bunch of picks
Yeah after watching this rebuild I’ll probably have to kill myself if we trade Amen. First nba jersey I’ve bought in over a decade lol. I’d be fine if Jabari went for Brown but would be upset if for Giannis After watching us run in circles for a stretch 4 the entire Harden era I would prefer to hold onto Jabari though lol
Obviously he was PISSED that tatum came back. It makes complete sense, he was the main guy and that put him back as the #2.
I like the combo of Jabari and Amen at the forward spots. Not completely opposed to trading Jabari, but the power forward replacement needs to shoot at least as well as Jabari does.
Yep, he proved to the league that he can carry a team and be the main guy, why would he want to get demoted again? This breaks up even the best of teams, these are competitive guys at the end of the day, you don't become an all-star settling. It'll probably break up OKC one day, Chet or Jdub will get tired of being bus riders and will want their own team to prove they can do it without SGA, just like KD leaving the Warriors, just like Lebron going back to Cleveland, just like Shaq leaving Kobe. Now that he's had the taste of not only being the #1 guy but leading a team to a #2 seed all while getting MVP votes, he's not going to want to go back. Some will say its selfish but its more like he has a championship already and he just wants to challenge himself to other things.
