For most of the 2000s Rockets were Texas' 3rd team while SA/DAL were the real contenders in the West.

We are about to hit that point again. Dallas will overtake us with Flagg. Spurs already did with Wemby, and they are not going anywhere. Rockets will be a distant 3rd best team in Texas for the next decade.

Correction: Stuck with Lil Patty Fertitta's babysitter.

All those who want Stone gone are going to be in for a rude shock when he does go, and Lil Patty 'replaces' him, but he's been the clown making the decisions since day one.

Masai loves KD. Maybe the smart move is to trade him to Dallas so he can sow discord amongst their ranks and implode the team. Then we can cement ourselves as the 2nd best team in Texas. ;)

SA's outlook sucks for us but I'd slow the roll on Dallas a bit right now. Flagg is going to be incredibly good and getting the foundational star is the hardest part of a rebuild but they are going to have a tight path to build around him and if they can't break through you'll start hearing about Flagg to Boston or wherever else. Masai was a good GM overall but had plenty of whiffs too.

Both the Rockets and Mavericks have an "owner's son Patrick" hovering over the front office so does it really matter?

Nah man, they have the generational talent on the team already. Id much rather be in theor position with Flagg who will attract players. And it isnt like DFW is a scrub market, especially in 2026. Players will go there.

Honestly I know people think Masai is a good GM but I thought his last few yrs in TO were terrible. Lots of bad moves. Lots of bad contracts.

I probably would trade places with the Mavs because you usually need a top 5-10 player to win a title and Flagg is a by far better chance to get there than any of our young players. Team building is a lot different now, though, with all the depth in the league and the fact that pretty much no top players ever get to free agency. Unless your foundational piece is Wemby, it's nowhere close to get a foundational piece and you are set anymore. They can put together a championship caliber team around Flagg but it's a tighter path with the state of their assets. They really need to hit on this year's draft pick.

Now if the Adelsons sell the team and Luka forces his way back in a couple of years.

The only reason why Dallas is in a good spot is they have Flagg and the city is gonna have low expectations for the next couple of years.

Flagg will attract players? Who did Cade or Barnes attract? Hell Wemby attracted Fox and he is their 3rd best guard on a max deal.

They only won due to injuries to GSW. I think by the time of Finals everyone was injured or playing injured, including KD with a bum leg and Steph with a fractured finger

You forgot that KD's first destination was Wemby and San Antonio, second Miami and Houston...

Spurs didn't want to part with their assets and Harper and Castle which was the smart move, Fox and Durant cannot be trusted.

Fox and Mitch Johnson can be game planned against, that is why not everything is lost vs that Alien.
