He basically said "this is just not our year" because a good defensive pg like Fred is too expensive to aquire in open market. Did I get that right?
I too, miss the Daryl days. He had an actual vision and roster construction that made sense. He surrounded Harden with: CP3 - playmaking / scoring guard Capela - perfect lob threat / rim protecting big EG - 3 level volume scorer off the bench Ariza, Tucker, Mbah a Moute - 3&D wings Also gave D’Antoni an elite defensive coordinator to mask his weakness on that end of the court. Now that, is how you build a roster. A team that fit so well together top to bottom and complimented one another. Meanwhile, Stone is out here throwing sh*t at the wall hoping it sticks with prospects that don’t fit at all. This organization has become such a joke under Tilman.
It was quite the drama and joke of a season, Durant giveth and taketh. Full of fake comebacks. Most of us knew Udoka reached most of his potential and what he had in his tank, maybe Fred and Adams are his last resorts.
Seeing Ayo and White perform well really pissed me off because those are guys I wanted us to go after at the deadline. He really should be fired.
What happens if he gets injured again? Ive been a Rockets fan my whole life good and bad but it may be time to just step away and stop being a fan for a few years. Nothing in my everyday life makes me as mad as this Rockets front office and coaching.
In 6 years since leaving Houston, Morey has not made it to the ECF either. So he's not won anything even though he does continue to improve the team. Morey is good and better than Stone, but there's levels to this
I think that’s easy to say in hindsight. I don’t think you can blame Stone for the draft except maybe the 2024 one with Sheppard. 2021-He wanted Cade. Took Green because they needed a scoring guard and he had a lot of high ratings from scouts. After Cade who panned out to be a franchise player? Maybe murphy? 2022-Rockets wanted Banchero but also liked Holmgren and Smith. None of the players in this draft are franchise players although J Williams is pretty good but again those top 3 players were highly touted by scouts. 2023-Amen is arguably the best player after VW in a draft that was undoubtedly rigged for the Spurs. George and Sharpe are nice but not franchise players—at least not yet. 2024-Odd decision to pick Sheppard who isn’t a guy that can beat defenders on the drive or a big playmaker when Castle was the superior player on both ends and especially when they were trading Green. Maybe the thinking was to groom him to be a backup point after the fred years. Klingan was an option and so was Buzelis both could have filled Rockets needs
I feel more comfortable now knowing the short coming of the team had nothing to do with management. Those pesky kids need to do better. The team already has the answer to any questions or problems on our perfectly constructed team. We have the best staff already in place. It’s really just all the kids that are lacking. We have already given them the best opportunities and stuff. Every one of them just wouldn’t grow like they should. In parting we have the best and most supportive ownership in the league. Kids, just the kids —> said in a narcissistic manner then second by confident cluelessness. . wow just wow. They are telling me to stop being a fan, but I can’t. I deserve this upcoming off season of frustration because I’m not smart enough to follow the advice given.
who said they have a perfectly constructed team? Udoka said they will take a look at the roster. No one said it was all players fault. But at the end of the day players need to perform. Players improvise in games. Players read and react. They make decisions on both ends. Their hands dribble release the ball not the coaches’ hands. No one told Sheppard to dribble into traffic knowing lebron is behind him. No one told Smith to not pass the wide open guy but instead he gave it to a lakers player
several of the guys picked after Jalen are better than Jalen. If Stone was drafting for need at the beginning of a rebuild he is much dumber than I thought. Stone botched that pick. There’s no way to defend that. yeah we’ll see about that Reed pick but it’s too early to tell. The fact that none of our later picks in any of those 4 drafts panned out isn’t great either. It’s also possible to trade back or trade out of a draft for future picks (or players). Lots of ways to maneuver.
I personally wanted Barnes. But i’m just talking about franchise players since you used that term. There’s not many players you can call franchise players or generational players. Mobley isn’t and not even Barnes is a franchise player. And about Stone, again they were looking for a scorer likely post Harden era. Mobley is solid but nothing special and they thought Green has more upside than Barnes. But again he wanted Cade. I don’t blame him for taking a guy many scouts were high on.
His whole plan is to wait for the magical growth spurt from our young guys and not looking for any upgrade. The more I listen to him the moreI realise he is a moron. I got fooled.
