These things are supposed to be a show of diplomatic posturing, but instead they spent the whole time throwing the young guys under the bus and defending themselves. Nothing was said to promote or protect the value of the players. It's not even good PR. It's not even PR on par with other franchises.

Blamed the players, blamed injuries and there's absolutely nothing they think they could have done better. How exactly is this good PR when they trashed our tradable assets and instead defended themselves (non tradable)?

Let's keep it real, this was a press conference to promote themselves. Someone please tell Tilman these two are running a little Ponzi scheme right under Patrick's nose.

What's hilarious is that Stone is obviously leaking to the media that his job is safe when he's not the one who decides that. The only people who can guarantee his job have no need to leak this anonymously. They can just say it to the press. What a **** show.

Well it doesn't help if they haven't said anything competent.

This front office is mildly better than the Easterby/O'Brien era on South Main, but this me yearn for the Bagwell/Cabell/Reggie Jackson Astros era

i dont understand any concerns with anything said...

    its all typical pr speak...

they're not accepting any responsibility - but theyre also making excuses for the players... euroball, thrown in the fire, not their natural position...

they're not tipping their hand and they're not looking to create any drama...

    Idk what folks expect... lol

    u were expecting:

The Rockets front office isn't "terrible".

The Rockets front office is average.

Four Astros legends: Craig Biggio, Roger Clemens, Reggie Jackson, and Jeff Bagwell.

Thank you, Mr. October, for helping the Astros win their second championship.

It’s also meaningful to point out that demanding some candidacy from your coach / GM does NOT take away the positive things they have done. It’s not mutually exclusive.

I will say this for Morey (who I still say is overrated given his accomplishments after nearly a quarter of a century in the NBA), he was never afraid to go for it. There is a caution in Stone which makes me think his top priority is keeping his job. Kick the can-ism.

True, it's the coaching staff that is "terrible"

What struck me the most from the presser was that he said we expect to compete... not expect to win... and losing in first round shouldn't be considered a "failure"

I have hope that Stone might think taking a strategic step back may save his job. He knows another disappointing playoff series may cost him. There are really no moves he can make this offseason that assure them of a better outcome next season. But if he is able to add another young core piece (say through the draft) that gives folks hope and brightens the future, he may get the benefit of the doubt, and the outcome of next season may not be graded on the win-now scale that this past season was given the KD acquisition.

I have no idea if KD will be moved. A lot of that actually depends on KD. But given that Stone brought it up, they may be considering taking a strategic step back, and that would be a very good outcome relative to other bad decisions they could make this offseason.

Hey, dummy, a functional PG means the Rockets would be still playing.
