I don't understand this overwhelming urge some people have to get rid of him. We don't have shooters. Even if he doesn't turn out to be the next Austin Reaves, you still need someone to score off the bench. You do know we have the worst bench in the league right?

If they are really such big believers in Reed, then put a coach in place that can help him succeed. We all know that's Steve Kerr. Steve knows exactly how to get a small guard his shots.

And honestly, we're kind of dependent on Reed breaking out at this point. Sengun and Amen are looking unlikely to get considerably better as shooters. We aren't going anywhere long term without a first option who can shoot. Nobody else on the roster seems to have the potential to be that.

All of that said, he was so bad in the playoffs. So so so bad.

lmao this FO is so delusional; they haven't developed one draft pick into a bonafide star

I think the hope was Reed would be part of that bench unit rather than a playoff starter - the reality is injuries have forced us to play starting and bench rotations we didn't intend to. I do think we need more scoring punch off the bench but strictly speaking our bench unit plans got blown up at the beginning of the year with Fred's injury and DFS's delayed start and only became more desperate as the season went on and we discovered DFS was never going to get fully healthy and Adams got added to the injury list.

What do you mean get rid of.. I doubt anyone is talking about cutting him. anyone talking about trading him would probably want it to be for another high value shooter.

Our current shooters speed and size deficiencies are more of a problem towards the teams lack of volume 3 point shooting than Amen and Sengun.

Yeah, i think Ime sees him as nothing more than a microwave scorer and he'll almost definitely go back to the bench once Fred returns and never become a starter as long as Ime is here.

People also don’t understand how to separate prospects from vets. How do you give up on 21 year olds…. If he was 28 yes let’s get rid of him.

Reed has been in the NBA for two years and came in at a physical disadvantage. He probably will not get a lot taller, but he damn sure will get a lot stronger and faster.

the offense was actually better it would be this year so there’s a lot of upside in regards to him being a more efficient passer and ball handler.

Reed and Amen are perfect to grow together. Throw in Smith and I believe that we will stay on an upward, trajectory

Agree with all of that, with the one caveat being Reed's end-of-game-5 performance.

No, we really don't all know that. Steve Kerr can go **** himself sideways with a rusty chainsaw, straight up.

I mean his biggest draft weakness, his size, has been a major issue. He will go through another offseason and get stronger, but he ain't growing any taller. I am still optimistic as I always though of him more of a Derrick White connector than Curry.

FWIW, I don't think its a commentary on Reed's ceiling watching him struggle mightily in the playoffs. This was always going to happen given his size, relative inexperience, and the fact he was mostly playing very savvy vets in LA. In a perfect world, he gets less than half the playing time he got in this series but injuries forced us to play him in a series he was always going to get smoked in.

I'm not saying Reed is still on track to be a star - there are other reasons to consider dialing back his expected career outcomes - but I'm just saying getting exposed in his first playoff experience after his first year of real playing time is not one of those.

Are you new to CF? This board's M.O. is, if you don't like a player or don't think he's good enough, TRADE HIM! We never want to think what can be had by trading the guy.

Curry is the same height as Reed. I'm not saying he can be or should be used as Curry. But Reed's problem is not his size. It's his strength and his handle. If he can improve on those two things, together with some mental adjustments, he will be a much better player. He already has the shooting and passing abilities.

Yeah, also seems to be the M.O. of everyone reading it to assume they don’t want to win the trade. These guys age isn’t a secret only we know about.. If you trade a young player with upside you obviously sell that upside and bake that value into the trade.

Curry has elite shooting and handles... I just don't think Reed will get to close that level even if he gets stronger.
