My favorite pho place went from $11 a bowl to $19 a bowl. I know the government is saying inflation is under 3% annually but my bank statement is saying inflation is 3% weekly.

    This sucks.

I did. But I realized I was replacing CF with Twitter screen time, and frankly I'd rather waste time with old friends than bots.
You'll see me in the Dish and GARM. I am just bemoaning my pho prices.

Pho ingredients are cheap as hell...that sounds like as much a management choice as a supply cost choice.

Still cheaper than eating out. I mean idk how people can afford that all the time. Decent meal for 3 under $50 is almost impossible to find.

restaurants raised their prices during Covid and never brought them back down

same thing will happen with groceries and every day goods thanks to the tariffs

after a certain amount of time, people become accustomed to the new normal so there’s no reason to decrease the price

yes they are cheap, but do you have the time to prep and cook it?

majority of people who eats out because it's convenient and they don't have to cook and clean. of course it's WILL ALWAYS be cheaper to eat/cook at home, but if everyone does it what is the point of restaurants?

Agreed, we have very short attention spans. I have gotten a bit creative when shopping at HEB and as nice as their stores are, those prices are not coming down. Just like the daily dose of chaos we get on the daily from tramp, you start to become numb and are in "wait" mode until we can vote and do something about this BS..................but that's all part of the plan, so much chaos and shenanigans going in you can't keep your eye on everything

It requires some value judgments and planning these days. My overall meat consumption is down a ton. I was trending that way anyway, but prices on most cuts are forcing my hand. There are some weeks I have some chicken or fish 1-2 times a week, depending on leftovers, and the rest is unintentionally vegetarian.

I will say that HEB is on the Mount Rushmore of things I miss about living in Texas. The produce at northern Virginia grocery stores is whack and Whole Foods is the only place I can buy fresh fruit and vegetables that last an entire week. Shopping there with the Prime visa card (5% cash back) and leaning into their weekly sales makes it cost about the same as other stores.

I'd say 3 days a week I cut my personal and work phones completely off. If there's an emergency call my on the landline and if I don't answer you better reach out to someone else. YouTube is the only social media I use but to each his own. I suppose this site should be counted as well.

I like the old school way of being face to face, BBQ, holidays, etc.

My point was I don't see how the ingredients in a bowl of pho have gone up enough to justify a restaurant raising the price by ~75%. That's why I mentioned "management decision"
