On the radio they said Teng and Weiss were the only two pitchers available and they likely have a bullpen game tomorrow. It was messy, but it worked out.
They ended up having to get Weiss up anyway, so in hindsight they should have already had him warming. Alls well that ends well but Abreu was more lucky than good in the 10th.
With this collective bullpen’s effort this season, you take it. There are no diamonds in the rough hanging out back there… it’s all rough, even more-so knowing that the starters aren’t going long (or at all) most games. Abreu is the only semblance of a leverage arm that actually would be considered on a possible playoff team, and he’s got to figure out his head-space or get locked into his mechanics at some point this season. If he rebounds some, and the Astros remain out of it, he may actually gain some trade value. Contenders tend to get desperate and give up decent stuff for leverage guys at deadlines (even ones that are pending FA’s).
Have faith. Re-inforcements are on the way and our division sucks. We have the lineup to be really good, just need a little luck on the injury front.
During the Golden Age, at least the fielding was good to cover up some of the pitching's mistakes... now... we just have to settle beating up the Red Sox.
