I wonder if KD is enough for Giannis to stay. I wonder if their roster is good enough for KD not to make a stink. Assuming Giannis could be convinced to stay, it might be one of the most realistic options. I think Milwaukee and Denver are the two most desperate teams right now. Maybe the Cavs if they lose game 7? But it would probably have to be for Mobley, and while he isn't a bad fit on our roster, that contract... bleh.
Sengun, Amen, DFS, Capela for Giannis and Turner FVV / Sheppard Durant / Eason Smith Giannis Turner / Adams Or you take Portis (and ask for AJ Green, if you can) instead of Turner, run Giannis at C defensively with Smith/Portis at PF. FVV / Sheppard Eason / Green Durant Smith / Portis Giannis / Adams
I don’t know what it would look like but I expect them to ask a heavy price. Probably to include Sheppard and maybe sign trade Eason. I don’t think Rockets want to include Smith in the deal, unless Bucks include other pieces? Giannis contract is huge and it would most definitely require multiple players. Maybe Rockets can get a third team involved
The problem with pushing all-in that way is that Giannis and KD both struggle to stay healthy for the playoffs. The only way that team has a chance at a title, and I still think OKC and San Antonio would both be favored over us, is if everybody stays healthy and FVV comes back strong from his injury. I think the odds of everything lining up are pretty poor, if I'm being honest. Especially with Ime "Coach Thibs 2.0" Udoka as head coach. The max window is also probably like 1-2 years before one or both of KD and Giannis fall off a cliff or have a career-ending injury, too. It doesn't open the window wide or long enough to be worth it, basically. Odds are too slim, window too short. If we're that out on Amen and Sengun that we're willing to just do a full rebuild again in a couple of years anyway--just get the draft pick haul and start over right now. No point in wasting time and leaving draft capital we could've had on the table.
SPURS still spank our behinds. We are stuck. Giannis is the only move that doesn’t spell disaster in the KD trade, which is to say the drafts that built our team. All of that said, it is still a double down, and will not get past the spurs, Giannis or not. No chance that team takes two games from the thunder. So, not going to a WCF, trade or not. Sucks, man, but similar to if we were all in prison together, our time will come. It’s just not now. We can play soap hockey until then. Pass to the open guy to pick it up.
Hope it happens before I’m dead, but that is getting less and less likely. I don’t think OKC and SA are as infallible as you think if we make the right trades and get an actual NBA level head coach. Wemby gets hurt every once in a while. If it happens at the right time SA is not a championship team. Same with SGA. Amen has been one of the only guys that gives the likes of SGA and Luka issues. I couldn’t believe he wasn’t on Lebron the whole series, but Ime gonna Ime. We have actually played OKC very tight the last couple of years with a brain dead coach. Nobody really has an answer for Wemby. They are a dynasty if he has long-term health.
Rockets should look at the Texans and take notes. Unsure if you have THE guy to guide the team? Build the team up as much as possible so if a 1A shakes loose, you can drop.him into an ideal situation. This takes awareness amd competence. Keep young core, build up shooters ball handlers and a vertical spacing rim protecting big man, swap KD, FVV, Aquaman, Tate, Tari, Uncle Jeff, Capella, DFS for picks, shooters reset for a season then assess who stays and goes
Giannis to Boston Alpi to Bucks Brown to Rockets FVV Amen JB KD Bari move Capela and DFS and bring in Grimes or Ayo and either try and get Okongwu - Turner or J Smith for stretch 5
The windows are small and they don't last long when you miss on those high picks. Green was a miss, Bari was a miss, but the biggest was Wemby and the balls. That was the last chance, then they went into win now mode with Green for Durant. Once there, you have to capitalize on it or its a waste.
I just don’t think the product on the court this year was anywhere near a contender, even with KD healthy all season and playing at an all-nba level. And although there will be some continued improvement from the young guys, I just don’t think they are good enough. I’d rather consolidate our talent and keep taking swings to find our franchise player.
Sengun/Capela/DFS for Giannis. If Mil just really likes Sengun and they want to do this then I am fine with that. I would probably include a draft pick, but it would have some protections on it. And I’m certainly not giving up the Brooklyn pick Giannis would definitely open up the offense more than Sengun. the injuries, age and the reliance on athleticism though is obviously there. do I think that Milwaukee would accept this offer? Probably not but if they really like Alpi then I would reluctantly do it. Smith/Adams Giannis/Olynyk Durant/Eason Amen/Okogie FVV/Reed
Giannis and Amen are not a good fit. I’ve spent the last 6 yrs listening to rockets fans b#tch about non-shooters. But we are gonna cash in our chips for…wait for it…a non-shooter?
Not sure if you guys follow the Bucks or Giannis at all for last 10+ years. The Bucks and their past coaches knows that he can be good at center, then why do they still get Portis, Lopez and later Turner.. it's not basketball reasons, it's Giannis reasons. He doesn't want to bang in the C. It's easier for him to stay at PF so he can have mismatch and look good on the stat sheet. He'll go C occasionally in the playoffs, it's the same AD syndrome, they want to stay in PF to prolong their career.
For folks lobbying for Giannis, at least know what you're lobbying for. The good, bad and the ugly. If you're going to get a diva, have to anticpate their demands.
