Dude it was smart. He was making sure they got the run scored. If they threw walker out he was on third with less than 2 outs. Ofcourse he was almost safe anyway. It wasnt horrible baserunning.
Altuve is one of the worst baserunners I've ever seen, however with one out that was a perfectly reasonable gamble.
What a dump tweet Literally any game he hit a HR in he would have doubled his HR count . I'm falling for the ragebait
He ensured they scored. It wasnt bad baserunning if you know baseball. The throw was so bad home it actually made the throw to 3rd base happen and easier. He was easily going to be safe. If the throw home was perfect and gets walker hes on 3rd with 1 out. The gamble was fine.
I saw the replay of the double play #1 - did we seriously want to trade for Duran and say he was a good defender? Pretty horrible throw from him on a not so deep fly ball . Was that a surprising send ? Or.was it a reasonable send based off him having an inaccurate arm ? #2 - you don't like the outcome , but I don't mind the idea . If the throw.goes.to the plate jose needs to take 3rd . He probably can't take it halfway and be safe either going to 3rd or back to 2nd. If you stay at second , depending on what happens at the play at the plate it's either 1 or 2 outs and cam Smith (who I am a fan of , but has been struggling) is up . Vasquez is ok , but the sox can also bring in a reliever for the best matchup. If it goes well you are safe at home and at 3rd . My main takeaway is that it was a really bad throw from Duran . Edit . Also good job bryce for making contact and elevating the ball .
You’re fine with making the 3rd out at 3rd? (not to mention, there would be no point in taking the risk in your scenario… vs having a guy at 3rd with 1 out is a smarter play)
You're the one saying it was bad base running, and you'd have done it if there was one more out (at least I think that's what you were trying to say). In your scenario, that would have made Altuve the 3rd out at 3rd. It wasn't a bad base-running move to try to get to 3rd with only 1 out.... as was said above, a normal throw by an average LF gets to the plate and Altuve is easily at third. The throw being really horrible and up the line made it an easier throw for the catcher (and still just barely got him).
