Crazy enough OKC did deal with injury problems this year and they were STILL #1 So did the Spurs and they were still #2 in the West Now add on Dallas is getting Kyrie back with their young star Portland is getting better We are screwed
Bruh they lost Jalen Williams MOST of the season ( I had him on my fantasy team) They had Wemby in & out to minor injuries. Both of them are TWICE the player FVV or Steven Adams is. And my point was they actually have a legit bench and an actual coach that can make adjustments. We have neither. So us having any kind of injury just makes it 10 times worse than an actual contender team.
Can’t win with Sengun bottom line. Too many mistakes but one big one I will never forget that i think is a prime example of how much mental focus he lacks is game 1 about the 3rd or 4th possession of the game and his first touch of the game. What did he do? He traveled. In a playoff game on your first touch and 3rd possession of the entire game you travel? That’s just stupid to me I’m sorry. Great players don’t do this.
I 100% agree. I don’t care if he goes somewhere and breaks out into a true star. I think it’s just time to part way with him In Houston. We’re not helping him and he’s not helping us. Sometimes it’s best to split before it gets ugly
OKC and Spurs are just stacked with guys that can shoot and drive—something we don’t have. But on the other hand he has a point. Fred means a lot to our team and both OKC and Spurs still had their pg and main ball handler/floor general. OKC was 8-6 without SGA. Spurs went 12-6 without VW.
They lost a legitimate star player in JW for the majority of the season. Not a cast off PG/C. Stop acting like those two were going to change the outcome of what the Rockets were going to be if the young guys didn't improve. The season was always going to depend on Amen, Sengun and Smith getting better and that simply didn't happen.
Why am I not surprised? I just hope that we can, at least, get rid of DFS and other irrelevant contracts (Tate, Jeff) and fill our roster with legitimate D&3 guys instead. I want that every guy on our roster who’s not Sengun/Amen/Adams to be a legitimate 3 point threat. Reed and Bari can’t be our only reliable shooters. Will we have any clear future with healthy KD, Fred and Adams? If we lower our expectations to win the 1st round - then yes, but for a ship? I don’t think so.
Yeah, he does some things well but others not so much. Particularly the shooting in the mid range and at the rim are terrible. Those are very important for a guy who runs as much pick and roll as he did. The dude is 32 and coming off an injury that kept him out for a full year - I'm not expecting him to come back the same player. This team needs someone more dynamic on the ball. FVV and Jalen worked because Jalen could get by defenders as a secondary ball handler / playmaker. This team doesn't have that anymore. That's why I thought it was a no brainer to go after Ty Jerome this past offseason - he is a better shooter by far, one of the most efficient pick and roll ball handlers in the game and can get his own shots, much like Jalen did - added to Durant's shooting, that would have been ideal. Stone and Ime chose to lean into Reed and Amen at the point - both of which were underwhelming (as point guards). Yep .... solid defender, league average shooter, decent distributor, just has some holes in his game. I really want them to try and get into the 5-6-7 spots in this draft and pick up one of Flemings, Acuff or Wagler. Really like the first two..
Not suprised We are not serious about competing for a chip If it was me 1. See what I can get for KD 2. Allow Tari to walk 3. Sign Amen on an incentive laden contract 4. Add some experienced coaches to the staff 5. Sign another point guard 6. Either Jeff Green retire or leave 7. Get rid of DFS
