The thing I don't want us to do is to sell low, which of course is what the rest of NBA twitter and the prominent NBA analyst voices would love for us to do. Best to inflate the value of our assets once again, and when they feel like they are back to their midseason value, if the front office really thinks that the pieces don't fit optimally, sell high for a piece that seems like a better fit. I don't think that's Giannis.
I’m leaning toward running it back, but cleaning house in a way that actually makes sense—bringing in legit three-point threats. You still have to sit down with KD this offseason and see where he stands with the team. Going all-in for Giannis just feels like too much for what it really changes—it could gut the roster without fixing the core issues. At this point, the “young guys” label has to turn into production. That’s the bet. I want to see what Amen looks like with real spacing before making any drastic moves—I think with proper space he could be unstoppable downhill. When he’s in attack mode, I don’t think many teams can keep him out the paint, but the spacing has to be there for that to actually show. And honestly, I wouldn’t rush into an extension for Amen unless it’s on a team-friendly deal. Let him prove it in the right setup first.
Whenever I have been talking about this with people, I think we literally are almost back in rebuild stage. That’s how bad it is now. We need to: Fire Stone and get rid of that whole front office Fire Ime and get a solid coach that can just make solid in game adjustments and is on par with the NBA schemes and strategies Trade Sengun, he’s not going to be the GUY atleast for us. It’s time to move on. Try to get a solid young or vet star for him if possible, if not then hope we can get 2-3 solid role players out of it. Like a Colby white and Brandon Miller and maybe a 1st but that’s probably asking too much at this point Don’t give Amen the max. We can’t even get out of the 1st round, other than KD NOBODY on this team deserves big money Let Tari go or sign & trade him Give Reed actual consistent playing time and a role he can actually grow into to see if he can flourish Bari is actually ironically the most consistent comfortable player in his position, keep him there I actually like Okogie and for his price keep him By default, Van Vleet and Adam’s will be back, it is what it is I ironically think KD did what we brought him to do, be an efficient scorer, but we asked him to do more than he should have and he’s finicky so it led to him ruining team chemistry. If we keep him, he should ONLY be used to score with a proper solid system around him, if he wants to go then trade him for assets and any picks you can Actually sign or trade for atleast TWO guaranteed top 3 pt. shooters like a Luke Kennard / buddy heild type. The Rockets somehow always like to cheap out or ignore this and it seems like when we do get a bonafide shooter, their scheme ruins them. Get atleast one more playmaking guard / ball handler. Like a Colby white, Ayo, Mikae Bridges, NAW type etc. It’s obvious why we need this. Get a younger rim running atheletic big that has a decent shot and can shot block. Dallas and Detroit has a surplus of them, try to make a deal for one Maybe keep Aaron holiday and that’s a big maybe, but he literally should be our 15th man on the roster at worst. That’s how much improvement we need on the bench Everybody else can be cut or traded. We literally need to move on from like half to 2/3rds of this team. I don’t even care if our defense suffers. We had bad defense lapse all season anyways.
If we land Giannis, we’re gonna need a true stretch 5 to make it work. He needs space to operate, not a clogged paint. But that’s the problem—Giannis already eats up a huge chunk of the cap, and going after someone like Turner on top of that probably means giving up serious assets.
Minus KD , what other player has put up their numbers consistently? I didn’t say he was the best player. I mean as far as a position that’s the least of our worries.
I think after this year sengun value isn't as high after playing so badly against ayton and hayes. I think tari has to stay but not at the price he wants. You need a player like him. I just hate that this org thinks fred should be a lifer...
Realistic options? Ime hires an offensive coach. Stone will stay. They chose to either build around Amen or Sengun. The other gets dealt to get into this draft.
I know alot of rockets fan dont like ime anymore bc of this season. But there aren't many good coaches. The only one I like is rondo but he has no experience as an actual head coach.
My only issue is I think Tari is just slightly more impactful than Okogie but Tari is going to want to be overpaid. And I have been saying Fred is a political thing. He’s the head of the players association so they can’t really afford to do him dirty or it will give our team a bad reputation, but someone brought up a point they did it to Chris Paul who was the president too. But I do believe it gave us a bad reputation which stone has been trying to repair. I remember him admitting to trying to change the organization reputation at one of the press conferences
Yeah we should of jumped on Mike Malone when we had the chance or even made him president of basketball operations We are kind of screwed now
I also think it was a mistake not to trade Tari to the Bulls, especially if we’re not in a position to pay him what he’s going to demand. Chicago clearly had interest, and now they’ll likely circle back and pursue him again. What’s frustrating is how things have played out since last offseason. Stone said he wanted to keep the core intact, but we still ended up losing 2 of them. Now there’s this narrative about fans “twisting his words” or blaming Rockets fans for misunderstanding him, which just feels like deflecting instead of clarifying. Stone has made a lot of mistakes, and it feels like they keep getting overlooked. Trading the Nets pick back—especially the 2026 pick—didn’t feel necessary. Signing DFS after there were already concerns about his ankles raised red flags(Lakers warned us about his ankle). And the draft misses haven’t helped either. On top of that, after making a KD move and then essentially standing pat, we’re now seeing the same flaws in the roster exposed again.
He can’t realistically play full-time at the 5 against bigger centers like Jokic. He’s best used in spurts there—situational small-ball minutes rather than anchoring the position full time. And if you’re going after someone like Giannis, you need real spacing around him for it to work properly. On top of that, the injury history makes it a bit of a risk, so you’ve got to be careful about committing too much to that kind of lineup long-term.
Bruh don’t even get me started on Stone You can go back through posts where I said I wanted Colby white or Ayo or Luke Kennard before the season started and to find out we could of got them for Tari & a 2nd when we may lose Tari for nothing is unforgivable. I also heard that he refused to trade because he wanted to force Ime to have to play Reed. if that’s true then that’s a fireable offense just for the negligence of letting his ego dictate major basketball decisions. And if him and Ime or beefing like that, they both have to be fired just like what Denver did when the coach & GM were causing issues.
Run it back with upgrades. Panic trades are what got us in this mess. Wasn't the original idea those fans wanted was to see what happens and then use Durant's cap space after? Do that then. Blame impatient fans instead of repeating the same mistake.
I think we should go back to embracing youth and growth while adding new vets so get rid of some guys like Tari or Jabari, Sengun and KD. This team was not ready and we tried to fast track our way back to contention. So big changes are needed. We are not winning with Adams and then an offense where FVV slowly walks it up, passes it off to KD and watch him work. FVV is not a good fit with KD and Ime surely will not change his up his offense. Stone or Fertitta need to force him to or just give him some actual shooters. This might have been the worst shooting team in Rockets history, but I also put that on Ime not putting them in positions to score.
