Matthews swing and miss rate is under 30% over his last 40 PA, first time so far in his brief career he's been able to do that. Hot result stretches don't mean much to me, but seeing a young player improve by far their biggest weakness in the supporting data certainly does, hopefully it can stick.
It is nice when they can get improvement with the OTJ training/reps. As there may be a new CBA, some of the service time stuff may not matter... but I am concerned that Cam Smith is now 2 years closer to FA, and he's still probably another half season to a season away from being ready for MLB pitching.
Matthews has had a big adjustment period at every level. I guess they wanted to see if he could adjust to major league pitching. We will see.
