yes our young core is not that good. We also apparently have bad player development, which is also not good.
It's almost like these young players lack something. I don't know, maybe they should've gotten some "coaching?"
Sometimes bad player development is just because said players have a low ceiling. Tari Eason is 24 and cannot play back to backs. Jabari, Amen are two guys who have and are still developing. Sengun is just soft man.
Does Ime have any strength? This is a good question. The lack of an accountability culture that Stone has created (which we saw in a horror-show version under Silas) has caused Ime to ease back in his chair and do nothing. I don't think that passivity is entirely in his nature, but rather learned behavior. When he first got here, Ime was hungry and had something to prove. He challenged guys to buy in, get their act together to be ready to play, and actually got players into a defensive stance — clueless guys who had no idea how to defend their man. He got them to play more physical and crash the glass when it was unpopular. But Ime has been worn down by an extended string of having no change--where the same guys who have glaring holes in their play, which can't be fixed, are trotted out game after game, climaxing in the Golden State fiasco. He finally got Durant, a player with clutch experience, and then he lost the lynchpin PG, his crucial ambassador among the players who was holding the ship together more than most knew. When it was clear prior to the season that NOTHING else was going to change--when wait it out and see what Fred can do when he gets back was plan A and B, Ime joined Stone on the sidelines and checked out. I wonder how any coach could succeed in this kind of exhausting culture.
Let's agree to disagree. I like Amen but I firmly believe that a guard/wing who can't shoot is a big liability for the team in the playoffs, unless you are someone as dominant as Giannis.
Their real PG is the one who should be compared to Magic Johnson and not Michael Jordan. Sure they list him as a forward, but he's always been a massive, super strong, supremely athletic point in truth.
What a terrible coach. It's not just the lack of offense, it's the constant excuses. This team has completely imploded multiple times, that's a coaching issue.
Yep, all those draft picks and rebuilding years and we have two first round exits against teams that had no business beating us. That's bad roster construction combined with bad coaching.
Ime's ceiling is as a defensive assistant. He's not good at player development, he doesn't believe in offensive systems, and he can't make in-game adjustments or plan out a serious strategy for attacking an opponent's defense.
Duplicate players is code for trading Sengun or Amen (most likely Sengun). If they don’t they will sign or trade for some mediocre backup guard and run it back. Ime is a trogladyte.
So, we get rid of players types I like that can attack the basket and create for themselves and others, for stagnate players that need someone to create for them, then we don't have any players that can do that? Ime and Stone are complicit, I don't think Ime can coach anyone his consistent negativity is the opposite of what we need and his constant berating of players who need building up is a problem. And whenever someone challenges him or is a talented HEADSTRONG player we move him along for nothing (Cam..cough cough). This org is borked until Dumb and Dumber are out. DD
