I just don’t see any of our young players get better this offseason. Everyone has to be a trade chip.
I dunno man. Keep Bari, Amen and Al Pee (if we surround him with shooters). Aquaman can stay too. Everyone else is just meh.
lol two unplayable guys DFS and Clint Capela, but James Harden "doesn't fit with the culture" or whatever. Aight, whatever you say Udoka/Stone.
No franchise player? Well what about Franczesko "Fran" Cziz? Polish-american walk on player at University of Southern Illinois. Go Salukis! Ended up managing a liquor store in Evanston Indiana after the war.
Most teams don't tbf. Are Jalen Johnson, Wagner, Banchero, Scottie, Maxey, Mobley, or i dunno Miller franchise players? No. They're all great 2nd options who need to be in a well constructed team to show their true value. As much as i'm not a huge fan of Amen, it’s obvious he could be a great player in the right system. The same could be said about Sengun and even Jabari. You appointed a complete ****ing moron and then judged them under that coaching. Looking at the 2021 draft, the only guy i would call a franchise player is Cade. You need to be extremely lucky, even with a high draft pick, to land a true franchise level talent. So you really have to work with what you have and you can still be a serious contender with multiple great players. Indiana proved that last year. I like Haliburton but i wouldn’t call him a franchise level talent he's close but not quite that guy and they almost pulled it off. Your GM and coach have to do their best to construct a team that maximizes the output of your best players. They didn't do their jobs. They objectively didn't. I mean do only franchis level talents deserve to play in a team with a recognizable NBA offense?
I have a feeling Amen will keep evolving and improving. His free-throw shooting has taken a massive leap this season, and perhaps his three-point shooting will follow. He just has to get to like 33% from three to become absolutely dangerous. He's already proven he's no Ben Simmons as a shooter because he actually lets it fly and seems dedicated to working on his craft. Jabari's attitude and hustle, even when his shot isn't falling, has endeared me to him a lot this series and this season--especially after that brutal stretch he had. I think he's a keeper too. I could make arguments for all of the other young guys, but I think Tari should be gone and Alpi and Reed have had very very long threads detailing their every positive and negative and I don't want to waste more of anyone's time on here. There are good pieces, I really do believe that. FRANCHISE players? I don't think so, unless Amen legit becomes an above average three-point shooter or something.
It's true, there hasn't been a single good white big man for a long time, can't remember the last white MVP in the league. There's that point guard in Denver that's pretty good tho
N he got cooked by Gobert Basketball is too physical, I mean you'll get a white dude here and there (or anybody else for that matter), but nah, blacks dominate the paint.
We've gotta get some guys who can shoot from more than 10 feet in. We relied way too much on Reed. He can't do it by himself. We also need some guys that can rebound other than Adams, who is a walking injury waiting to happen.
Reed looks like a bench player right now but he’s the youngest out of the group at 21. No reason to trade him yet. Jabari is a reliable role player and leader. He’s worth his contract and is only 22. I wouldn’t trade him unless something BIG comes along and they need salary. Amen and Alpi are only 23 and show a ton of potential, but they have to develop a reliable jumper. Idk if you can start two players who absolutely cannot shoot. if something BIG happens then I suspect Alpi to be the centerpiece of it bc of his salary. Tari is only 24 and played some great defense on LeBron this series. He’s a sometimes frustrating player offensively though. I think and hope he returns on a team friendly deal. These five players aren’t ready to compete for a championship all by themselves. That’s ok. They have plenty of time to develop. The Rockets had absolutely no help from there bench except for one game and the production in that game was minimal. I don’t expect much change on the roster during the offseason. I think coaches and FO view the solution to their issues are already on the roster. I think Ime’s coaching staff needs to have a shake up. They need someone who can implement some kind of offensive system. The fact that they didn’t have a go to set all season is damning. This iso read a react crap has to go.
Huh? Maxey is 10000% a franchise player. Have you ever watched him in the playoffs? He's the definition of elevating you're game when it matters. I mean I already know you don't know what you're talking about with your Maxey take but you're delusional if you think Sengun is on the same level as Barnes or Banchero. I would implore you to watch the playoffs especially this season. Barnes is a nightmare for Cleveland on the defensive side and Harden and Mitchell are struggling big time. Banchero is dropping monster games and his play in team is going into game 7 with the number 1 seed. Meanwhile our "all-star" flopped, sulked and avoided playing defense all the while making the Lakers Cs look like competent players as we got bounced again in round 1.
It's like they didn't even spend a minute pondering why they Lakers were so willing to let DFS walk. Did it not occur to them that the Lakers doctors had taken a deep look at DFS's injury and reported back to management the dude had just lost a step he's never getting back?
