It's honestly easier for me to select who doesn't go. The only one I would try to keep at all costs is Jabari. I feel like he has solidified himself as a highly versatile role player. He's the only one I'm convinced would be a starter on a championship team. Unfortunately, that says more about how I feel about everyone else than how I feel about him. Sengun/Amen aren't go-to scorers but for them to be most successful the offense has to be structured around them. One fear I have is that everyone says they can't play together because of the shooting but Amen has historically gotten a fair amount of points from Sengun paint passes. I'm not sure he'll be as effective offensively when thst is gone. For Sengun/Reed to be their best they need a defense structured around them. I'm really worried about Reed's general court awareness and basketball IQ. There was a play earlier in this series where the lakers ballhandler was at the top of the key and Reed had ran in a full circle and now had his back completely to the ball. It was like something in a scripted tv show, he was just that lost out there. I'm not sure he can be a prime CP3 type defender if he doesn't have court awareness and an eye for positioning. He has quick hands that are good for some steals but staying in front of your man is way more valuable. Tari has not become a reliable 3andD threat. His shot is streaky and he's more of a defensive playmaker/deflections guy than somebody you can rely on to contain a scorer. He will also just make boneheaded plays from time to time. Then there's his injury history. I think you move on from Sengun if you get a good deal. Maybe you keep the rest simply because no one will offer a good enough return on a trade. But, at this point I'm actually skeptical of some them becoming simply reliable starters on a contender, forget star power.
Sengun, Fred, KD(could be hard to trade, may be forced to keep) Tari, Tate, Adams,DFS, Green, Holiday and Possibly Reed all need to go. Don’t go star chasing, just gather more draft capital for this draft and the future. Get some decent “healthy” vet players to fill out the roster, it’s too much dead weight on this roster. Hopefully we can draft a franchise player in this draft. I would keep Jabari and Amen for now. But I would still be looking at offers for Jabari as well, because after his playoff performance this is the highest his value will ever be. Fire the GM and all the coaches as well. take a step back and just look at all the dead weight and wasted salary I just mentioned. This is legitimately one of the worse rosters put together. The fact that this team thinks adding Fred and Adams will fix their problems shows how dumb this team is from top to bottom.
A season of ifs. No Fred, no Adams. No KD for the playoffs. What was clear though the team needed a point guard. It was inexcusable to have no pg all season. Fred was a very important player that could look after the ball. This season there was no one that could do that. It was infuriating watching KD try to be a point guard with his weakass passes. KD is a great player but I felt like this season KD made a lot of players regress in their ability. The team lacked the dog that fighting spirit edge they had in them last season. I kinda wonder what the team would of been like with no KD all season. They might of struggled at times but I think you would of found out who is a keeper and who is not. I think particularly Amen was affected by KD's presence the most, he looked like a caged animal all season. i want to keep Jabari, Amen and Sengun. Sengun on the condition he has better backup or a point guard that an deliver him the ball deeper in the post.
You saw exactly what it looked like last night - incapable of even stringing together a rudimentary offense in the biggest possible games. The Rockets were 2-3 without Durant in the series - that's about a 30-ish win pace, that's probably pretty accurate projection had he been lost for the season and not replaced
Off season will be more fun than watching this team play. That's for sure. Thank God, it's over! Tari's time is up. So long Momster... Excluding Amen, Jabari & Reed, anyone can be moved this summer. This could go into any direction, which makes it super interesting. Without a doubt, Ime should go. They didn't even crack 100 points +50% of the PO games under Ime's tenure. We couldn't score +5 minutes on 2nd quarter. How many times did we see this happen over the last 3 years? Don't care if half of salary cap is injured. This guy don't have it. I really don't see how a billion dollar organization let him survive after this massive failure. If he doesn't go, Alpi goes. Someone must pay the price. Don't run it back.
I know what I WANT to happen.... Ime gone Stone gone KD traded for younger players/assets Sengun moved for a haul. Again, young players/assets. Tari moved in a S&T. I'm seriously skeptical that ANY of this will happen though...with the exception of Sengun getting moved. (and I don't trust Stone to get it right)
Not enough allowable choices. Said this in another thread but the smart thing to do would be to trade into the Top 7 of this draft and stick with Amen/Jabari/Reed. Keep developing.
If people actually look at our competition, it's very clear we need a reset. Trade Sengun and KD, hoard as many picks as we can. The new draft lottery is more about hoarding picks now rather than getting a good pick from a bad team since bot 3 teams have lower chances at #1.
I thought the poll would be more interesting if the choices were limited to the young core, coach, and GM. But yeah, obviously the rest of the roster are in the discussion as well (FVV, DFS, etc.).
It should be a total overhaul of staff and players. Likely they run it back and just swap out Sengun and Tari. Next season likely looks even worse.
Have to choose between Sengun or Amen and whoever they choose surround them with legit shooters for crying out loud.
I’d consider trading Sengun and Eason for the right price. I also wouldn’t mind running it back with a healthy FVV, KD, and Adams. Our bench should have been a strength but Eason and Reed were too often forced as starters and DFS sucked. DFS and Capela need to be packaged and traded for an upgraded bench scorer.
I agree with the KD part at least. The rebuild is frankly still in progress. Having KD is distracting from that. I'm afraid that KD isn't the type of vet that facilitates the growth of the guys (like Dillon and FVV had been), and at worst, he detracts from their growth.
Stone, Udoka, and Dickerson in that order. Clean house on front office/coaching. Try to get some kind of starting-caliber stretch 5 for KD if it's at all possible. Doesn't have to be a rim protector archetype, although that would obviously be ideal. Just good enough to start. After that, new GM should explore trades for Sengun and Reed Sheppard first and foremost, but listen to offers on any of the young players. Don't trade anybody in the "young core", except possibly Tari, without getting back, at a minimum: 1) A #2 option or somebody (this might even be a draft prospect) we are very confident will become a #2 option or better 2) In his 20s 3) Who significantly improves the roster construction We don't need more 3rd/4th/5th options, we got plenty. If we are serious about building for the future, we need guys who can, at a bare minimum, be one of the top 2 players on an NBA contender, for at least 5 more years post-trading for him. See if anybody wants to SnT for Tari for a price that makes sense. Obviously can't expect as much back here, but I'm okay with him going out the door given his inconsistency, low basketball IQ, and bad body language at times this season. If the return is basically nothing (or nothing-adjacent), see if we can come to a deal with his camp on staying at a team-friendly price, with the promise to trade him as soon as something comes up.
