I hope Fertitta realizes that Stone needs to go. The rebuild was a failure and tough decisions regarding players on the current roster need to be made. I think Stone is of the mindset that he can bring most of the roster back next year and hope that everyone is healthy. We need a fresh perspective going to manage the franchise going forward.
Dude is not liquid at all. The banks actually own all his vanity assets. So no he really doesn’t have a zillion dollars. The banks do to finance and let oligarchs like Tillman buy things like the Houston Rockets. Given that the majority of his assets are tourism, his cash flow can fluctuate greatly and at any moment if another Covid comes along, he could go broke just like that. With the volatility of his portfolio, especially with the failed Post Oak investment (which is now just a center strip parking lot) I bet Tillman cares ALOT about the Rockets and more importantly the Toyota Center being a full house all next year. He needs the rockets to be relevant more than you’d think. He can’t afford to take losses on an irrelevant team that doesn’t put butts in seats.
