Yep, the KD trade was a mistake because it put expectations on this team that these guys were not ready for. I'd rather just trade him, try to get the best you can for him and just move on. These guys got some more playoff experience and hopefully it makes them better but if you're not competing with KD then there is no reason for him to be on the team at this stage of his career.

They were missing Luka for the entire series who is more valuable than all of the guys we were missing combined. Reaves was out most of the series and was not even 100%.

Plus, we lost last year to the old man Warriors last year with everyone healthy.

And if missing Adams and Fred means you get destroyed like this to that lakers team, then you arent just a star away anyways.

 

More athletic Artest or Battier or Igoudala etc etc is more fitting. He's not a big despite the shot profile, he's a wing. But the biggest crime? Ime had him guarding people who average 9ppg and other people on LeBron. He has literally no worth as an elite defender if he's only guarding scrub level players. Elite lockdown defenders are supposed to guard the stars. Ime's a total fraud, and Amen still looks like fool's gold, he's not even really doing the one thing he's supposed to be elite at if you really look at it in context. Flip the situation a little, if there's an "elite defender" guarding the Harden Rockets, is he truly elite if he only ever guards Eric Gordon or Trevor Ariza?

He believed in himself and in his team, that's not in any way a bad thing.

If the Rockets didn’t want to win this series, they wouldn’t have won game 4 and 5 and been up late in game 3.

The Rockets lost this series for the same reason they lost in the first round last year. They aren’t that good. They will hustle, play hard and beat teams that are bad or don’t come ready to play. However, when it comes to match ups and high level games and series… they aren’t good enough. Their best players aren’t good enough compared to the best players on good playoff teams. They are poorly constructed and rely on old players that are injured half the time.

Stone and Udoka can’t admit the rebuild isn’t good enough to beat the best teams because that isn’t what the owner wants to hear. So they will do what “stuck” teams do- blame injuries, bad luck until that doesn’t work and then blame the players and shuffle them and then the coach and eventually the owner has enough and dumps the GM.

I wish they would take a step back and trade for draft picks. Hold onto Amen and maybe Reed or Jabari and trade the others for draft picks and organically rebuild.

Before someone says they are close - they aren’t. Look at the GS team they lost to last year - now look at the Lakers team without Doncic and Reeves out most of the series. That is a play in level Lakers team, and they toyed with the Rockets.

You are in the micro minority because that is truly an idiotic take. Udokas roster decisions held the team back all year. Wasted a year to develop reed for nothing when yiu had no pg. His offense is iso on a team of no shooting and no spacing. Wtf are you even talking about.

 

You’d have to get rid of Stone, Ime, Sengun, KD and every other player makin $8+ million a season.

They were so unacceptably bad tonight in basically every way. It was a complete team effort in ineptitude.

I didn't like this team. It's been a long time since I've said that. The organization needs to do some serious soul searching...
