It’s also not like it hasn’t happened before in other sports.

NBA: Charlotte Hornets move to New Orleans. They eventually rebrand as Pelicans while Charlotte gets an expansion team in the bobcats. Eventually they decide to rebrand as well and they negotiate to get back the Hornets name.

Right it should be that, but that's too far back for them to remember what's what, they're confused on the correct details. Spiting H-Town is their only real Super Bowl

I really respect the Tennessee Titans organization for honoring the legacy of the city of Houston, our oil industry, and the Houston Oilers. It’s unheard of for a franchise to forsake their own identity to pay tribute to another city like this. I just feel bad for their fans!

Personally I'm over all of this.
I loved Bum and white shoes and that whole gang but I remember to the Astrodome the last year they were in town. It was just sad.
    Even Krazy George looked sad.

This lady can do what she pleases.
Give me battle red any day.
Back then I thought the unis were nice but not Seattle Seahawks nice.

    She is who she is
I just say scoreboard b**** every time we curb stomp them.
Andre will forever be my hero for ragdolling Finnegan

I looked deeper into this and I can confirm this entire post is correct.

Remember that time when the Titans wore these uniforms and blew a 32 point lead against the Bills? Sad sad stuff. You really gotta feel for Titan fans. So much heartache.

I remember listening to an interview with Bud Adams, back in the 90’s; he explained why he picked the colors. Seems Columbia blue was his father’s favorite color, and that was one of the reason it was so prevalent in the uniform. There is something magical of that color scheme, Columbia blue, red and white!!!

I guess Bud’s daughter was finally was able to revert the franchises to those original colors. Nevertheless, the Titans name still sucks! Oilers inferred power without having to say it, Titans feel presumptuous - like “look at me, I’m somebody!” There is no poetry in motion for a Titan, but an Oiler is the modern world’s energy! That’s legitimate power.

Who says “I am a Titan?”, besides weak fragile egomaniac... Generally someone else is the ones saying they are unstoppable, like a Titan when they can’t stop you.

I’m glad you are over it - I am not.

I want the Oilers uniforms and history back in Houston and not in some bumpkin cracker town that lost its authenticity decades ago.

I sleep well at night knowing Bud Adams is in hell getting bent over by Bob Lanier while Bum Phillips chuckles.

I would be excited if tomorrow bumbling Cal McNair bought the name and uniforms and said he was renaming the Texans to the Oilers. The Texans are boring and proper - even with Watt and Johnson….. Gimme the Oilers with Moon getting in fist fights with Alan Ashby over a strip club bill. Give me Bum and Earl and Givins and Hill… give me the gritty and nasty underbelly of what Houston is.

Wont happen but at least Adams died without a Super Bowl.

We just need to find some dirt on Amy Adams, then trade it for returning our history/colors.

Until then, the curse of Bud Adams will continue to hover like a cloud over the Titans.

Well said @vince and thanks for the background--I hadn't heard that. As @Nook says above I wish we could have recaptured our colors. Those were OUR colors not Tennessee's.

As a retired military guy, I think of "colors" a little differently than most. Here's the wiki def, focus on the last sentence and that's why this Titians rebrand get me pissed off and fired up at the same time.

"Military colors, or regimental flags and standards, historically functioned as crucial battlefield rallying points, identifying unit locations amidst smoke and chaos, while symbolizing the spirit, honor, and history of the regiment. They often represent national pride and unit identity, with their capture seen as a sign of defeat."

I think eventually we will get it back. Watch. These “rivalry” uniforms we are getting are supposed have primarily htown blue. If that is true those will sell very quickly. The Titans will have a new design yet again in a few years. I don’t think Amy wanted to shelf the Oilers name after losing to us twice in them. I think there’s a change coming. Hannah clearly knows what that blue means here. One day we will get it back.

I'll say this, as I'm over the anger at the Titans' pettiness over some of this. I wish the league would get with both sides of this and figure out how to let it be a profitable exercise for both. Let Houston have some of the blue and let the Titans, each because of history. Then bill it as a blue-out or whatever game. The NFL is surprisingly absent at the money-making opportunity here if they played this correctly. Forget playing down the scenario, play it up at this point if it won't die.

That said, we should be doing a better part of fanning those flames. It's long since time we built the Andre Johnson vs. Finnegan statue outside the stadium. He is the first Texans' hall of famer, so I'd find it a fitting tribute to put his statue out there wailing on a player from our former franchise.
