Even IF The Rockets don’t get out of this first round series. I am now certain the team has found their starting 5 and the organization should build around them for next season.

    Go Rockets!! H-Town Crazy!!

He turns 22 in June. He’s a year younger than both Jabari and Amen.

They are all young and will continue to get better over the next three years.. I just hope they get to grow together.

    Here's what I don't understand
Here's what I don't understand. People say he's not truly the starting point But what is our record with him starting at point guard. People are real good to look at the weeds and picking up those weeds, but nobody is seeing their forest when it comes to him

I think its an expectation vs reality thing. He's good but trash compared to where we want him to be if he's gonna be a superstar. He looks more on track to be a great sixth man or role playing shooter.

He needs to develop a shot.

He needs to develop a pass when it's not on the fast break and against a set defense.

He needs to develop how to develop an actual idea of what to do when the defender stops his initial first step.

He needs to learn how to score consistently without teammates setting him up.

There's just far too many things to overcome to be a star point guard for Amen next season.

This is where coaching comes in. He should be playing really high pnr with sengun A LOT. That will allow him more room and make him unstoppable in the half court and not just transition. If he can get a nice mid range floater he'll be nice. He doesnt have to shoot threes. Ja doesnt he is just relentless attacking the basket off of screens and Amen already has a higher shooting % from 2 than Ja ever had. I think we just have the wrong coach.

    Amen. No pun intended.

I genuinely do not recall another coach who puts his players in worse positions than Ime, literally emphasizing their weaknesses.

    It's astounding.

    "Never has been"

    a) second year player, he played 10 minutes in the playoffs last season.
    b) he cooked in game 4.

You don't need to **** on Reed to prop up Amen, they're both on the rockets.

He's 21, bro, about to be 22. What he is though, is a borderline rookie.

People do not realize we were 17-4 with Reed starting. That is a pace to win 62 games.

Agreed but that is all opinion. So removing opinion and emotion from the equation,

Let's just look at the facts. He's already displayed enough potential that his value, today, is greater than his contract amount. If he were an UFA right now, he'd get at least $15/mil on the open market, well more than the value of his rookie contract.

The only way to trade Reed right now, you'd have to craft some multi-player deal but will have secondary/unintended consequences and therefore full of risk. The only scenario is to entice a trade to get a megastar back in return. So to me, that's where this conversation ends.

There is no need to even discuss the topic of Reed's talent/skill potential.

Anybody that suggests trading him this offseason are agents of chaos and/or just trolling or click-baiting. On that note, I refuse to give this thread any more oxygen. It's dumb.

He’s 21, not 19. There really isn’t much hate for Reed on the board. It’s just that so many Reed fans get upset at any acknowledgment of his weaknesses and anybody not worshipping at the DD generational PG altar are branded as haters. There is a world where Reed is a good contributor on a good team without being a superstar and stating that is not hate just a realistic take.

They should have found it, but FVV is going to lose it again.

That argument would hold more water if you didn't say stuff like "it will take several years of bodybuilding until he has a shot at becoming a starting level pg". Absurd statements like that read as hate or at the very least just blatant lies. There are several posters here who embellish his weaknesses to a comedic degree

I believe he has to get stronger. I believe and have stated it for several years that Jabari needs to put on more muscle. He has put on weight each year, but still isn’t strong enough to play center which I believe would be a great step for him. How is that a blatant lie or an embellishment? Even some of Reed’s biggest fans have stated that he needs to get stronger to be able to finish and get to the foul line. If it has taken Jabari who has a much more athletic frame has taken years to put on muscle, why is it disingenuous to think it will take Reed several years. Reed only fans are insulted with any criticism of their hero. I like Reed and hope he starts and plays great, I just don’t think he is as far along as guys that go overboard glossing his progression.
