If he was a Trump ally the White House would have already paid him 50 million of our taxpayer dollars for “damages”.

Comey is guilty of rigging the 2016 election against Hillary. Trump was dead in the water after the Access Hollywood tape, before Comey put his thumb on the scale with his announcement that he was reopening the investigation into Hillary 10 days before the election. Trump is a total ingrate to go after him now, when he would have never been President if it wasn't for James Comey.

He also thought the Jan 6th insurrectionists had good reason to threaten hanging Mike Pence. Trump is an evil man, and his pardons of all those making death threats shows just how much of a spiteful revenge seeking hypocrite he is when it comes to stuff like that. It's almost laughable that his warped mind is trying to prosecute Comey for seashells.

The conservative NRO editors call BS on this new indictment: https://www.nationalreview.com/2026/04/86-the-comey-indictment/

The indictment’s language has to be strained beyond breaking point to claim that a “reasonable recipient” of Comey’s post would read it as a serious expression of intent to do harm. The timing here is obvious. Coming less than a month after Trump dismissed Attorney General Pam Bondi, having complained that she wasn’t prosecuting enough of his political opponents, the new Acting AG Todd Blanche, to his shame, is trying to do better.

The whole indictment could have been written on a US Attorney's lunch break: https://www.justice.gov/opa/media/1438481/dl.

It was signed by interim US Attorney W. Ellis Boyle. This is yet another case of Trump not being able to or perhaps not wanting to have a US Attorney win confirmation in the Senate, with some lackey exercising the powers of the office without the trappings. Boyle was appointed on an interim basis last August, and that would have expired around December. I can't find anything that says he was then appointed again by a district court, though maybe he was. He is in the Eastern District of North Carolina (Comey lives within the Eastern District of Virginia, but maybe the beach he was at was in North Carolina???), so maybe he's not encountering judges that won't stand for this workaround like his colleague in California has. Meanwhile, Trump does not have any nominee for that role even awaiting confirmation by the Senate. And, if Mr. Boyle was hoping to get the nomination, he can probably forget about getting confirmed now. Even Senate Republicans are going to be too embarrassed to endorse this indictment.

So dude took a picture of some seashells and is getting prosecuted for it. Wouldn't everybody that reposted the seashell picture be subject to the same prosecution?

Wasting taxpayer money on fruitless, furious, and frivolous investigations and prosecutions drains resources from real crimes that should be prosecuted. The data reflects that. Federal drug prosecutions are at their lowest level in decades, and ProPublica reports that the Trump administration has dropped thousands of investigations into serious crimes, including terrorism, fraud, drugs, and corruption.
