He is exceptional at what he does, and he knows what and how to say so that people believe in him and what he says. He could be a very dangerous candidate for President if he decided to go down that path and made a couple of inroads with the right people. He knows when to take a step back and appear calm and in control, and how to attack people without a standard loud take down. He has carved out a niche with the protestant/evangelical Americans - both those poor and middle class... he leans on basic Christianity, the ideas of traditional America and doesn't attack those that he disagrees with on many social issues... which lets him try and take the high road. In his own way, he is up there with Rush Limbaugh and Bill Clinton in his ability to control and distort. His latest quest has been to slowly change the narrative around US support of Israel and wars...... he has been better at that than anyone, and has actually out flanked Trump on that issue.
I agree, but I do think that Tucker is likely to be a very unpopular and unlikable president if he was able to win. He's like JD Vance in his skill to be a chameleon in any given situation, and can use language in a very manipulative way. However it's still leaving out the who likability thing. Many times with presidential candidates its the "guy you'd want to have a beer with" that ultimately connects with voters. With the MAGA voters culturally I actually think Don Jr. for whatever reason resonates WAAAYYYY more than Tucker, Bannon, etc. While he's still an idiot like Trump, and even dumber in many ways, the threat of him running and winning might put the country in an even worse spot in terms of transitioning more into a corrupt dictatorship. Trump sr. would definitely still be running the country in that case as more of a godfather mob like figure, and the grift would be griftier than it's ever been before. As much of a fascist and racist as Tucker is, I honestly would feel better as a pro-democracy advocate myself if he was the nominee than who I think will be... which is Don Jr. Go to my in-law's church picnic this weekend out in the sticks... ask about Don Jr..... The true blue MAGA folks that are the real base of the cult LOVE Don Jr.
I think there is certainly some truth to this. However, likability has changed somewhat with the ability to control exposure through social media. Carlson is capable of controlling who he talks to and where he talks to them, unlike prior President's before Trump. That is a big advantage for Carlson. He also has come a long way as far as likability is concerned -- he has spent the last handful of years working on it. Also - what we have learned with Trump is that campaigning well can be enough. There are people that I think would be worse than Carlson, his target is more culturally broad than Trump though. He wants a type of soft but pervasive Christianity that resonates all parts of American culture. He wants a patriarchy, where the man is the head of the household and abortion is illegal and "the greater good" prevails. He believes in small towns, cultural centers and says very little bombastic towards those that could be impacted by his vision -- women, gays, etc. He will even quote scripture saying that he does not believe in punishment or an eye for an eye -- but he will support legislation to make these people's lives harder..... but he does it in a way that will appeal to a large amount of Americans...... and his economic message and policy is similar. I don't think Tucker would ever try to over throw the government -- he would likely try to position us culturally and geo politically how the USA was before the first World War. Some of that can be positive, but some of it can be repressive and potentially hurt the USA economically.
Yeah, undo it all on day 1. They need to start out by wiping that sh*t stain off of everything the government is in charge of. Sounds like a good campaign pitch to clean up the face of America. There has never been a more narcissistic and self-serving human being as President in my lifetime. Every time you read the news his name or ugly face gets put on something else. The worst part of it all is that he's a horrible President, and an even more horrible human being. What a sad way to celebrate our 250th anniversary with that repulsive liar and grifter up there putting himself in the spotlight and spoiling the celebration. Hopefully when my passport is up for renewal that nasty mug shot won't be in it. I haven't checked how many years left I have on it.
Cant argue with any of those points. Carlson would a different kind of bad, but still really really bad. There are very few options that'll be on the R 2028 ticket that won't be hugely detrimental to the country if they are to get elected. Where Tucker is trying to position himself to be in is as a reformist outsider from Trump, but also further to the right if that's even possible.
