The media and reporters should be a lot harsher in questions with all the BS going on. They should drill him about priorities here, and keep on asking those questions he doesn't want to answer. They should be calling him a flat out liar when he spews lies, and more. The women ask the toughest questions and he attacks them personally and rudely. Just once I'd love to hear one of those women lash back, and tell him there is no excuse for attacking her personally, and to shut his nasty mouth. :p

I still can't believed that Hegseth, RFK Jr, and so many others ever got confirmed in positions of such importance. It's madness. It's one thing to be a butt kissing loyalist, but an entirely different thing to approve people without the experience and integrity to do their jobs, while firing folks way more competent and experienced to lead. This is madness. Fox News hosts, huge Trump donors, Trump defense lawyers, and billionaires with shitloads of conflicting interests are running our country into the ground.

White House leak reveals internal fear of war failure

President Donald Trump's team is starting to panic.

The Daily Beast reported on Tuesday that his war against Iran could turn into a long and drawn-out quagmire that economically trashes the United States and pulls down the president politically. It could ultimately be such a huge miscalculation that the rest of his administration is marred by the war for the remainder of his term.

In a leaked comment to Axios, one Trump advisor said that Trump told them, "All [Iran's leaders] understand is bombs."

The advisor said that Trump was "frustrated but realistic. He doesn’t want to use force. But he’s not backing down.”

The problem is that aides fear Trump is approaching a Cold War-like scenario where he can't score a deal but instead remains in a paused conflict with Iran. Such a stalemate could leave U.S. troops stuck in the Strait of Hormuz, blockading cargo ships with desperately needed goods and oil tankers from delivering affordable fuel.

Both sides want to see who caves first," the Beast said.

Meanwhile, gas prices could continue to spike as the November election draws closer and closer.

“A frozen conflict is the worst thing for Trump politically and economically,” a source told Axios.

Trump's "red line" is that Iran cannot have nuclear weapons. But peace talks with Trump's son-in-law and Middle East envoy aren't working.

So, Trump is waiting to see whether Iran will eventually agree to negotiate and end its nuclear program or continue striking Iran.

On Monday, Trump met with his national security team. According to one official who spoke to The New York Times, taking a deal from Iran that doesn't include denuclearization would prevent a "victory" for Trump.

“The United States will not negotiate through the press — we have been clear about our red lines and the president will only make a deal that’s good for the American people and the world,” White House spokesperson Olivia Wales told the Times when asked for comment.

'A day of reckoning coming' as Trump's attempt at damage control backfires: analysis

Major economists, from former New York Times columnist Paul Krugman to Justin Wolfers at the University of Michigan, are warning that the longer U.S. President Donald Trump's war with Iran drags on, the harder it will hit American consumers. According to Krugman, higher oil prices will make a wide range of goods more expensive — as those goods have to be physically transported.

Trump and his allies are trying to calm down the markets about oil prices. But according to Politico reporters Scott Waldman and Eli Stokols, Trump's attempt at damage control could be making things worse.

In an article published on April 28, Waldman and Stokols explain, "Energy experts say another oil price spike is coming — and it may be made worse by the president’s social media posts. President Donald Trump has repeatedly spurred temporary dips in oil prices by claiming, on Truth Social, that the Iran war is near an end and that U.S. oil production would ensure sky-high gas prices would soon retreat. The jawboning has mostly worked. Even as the global price of oil has crept up over $100 per barrel on the futures market, it is significantly less than the $140 per barrel spot price, or what it would take to buy a barrel today."

The Politico reporters continue, "But the president's promises can only work for so long. Supply of oil — especially in Europe and Asia — is dwindling, and a price shock is coming, said Dan Pickering, chief investment officer at Pickering Energy Partners."

Pickering told Politico, "There's a day of reckoning coming. It will be painful because I can tell you that the stock market's ignoring this."

Rosemary Kelanic, director of the Middle East Program for Defense Priorities (a libertarian think tank) is sounding the alarm as well.

Kelanic told Politico, "By talking down the market so effectively, when the price spike becomes inevitable, it's going to hurt way worse because we'll have lost weeks or even months of time where producers could have been ramping up output."

Emma Anderson of the Washington, DC-based Stimson Center (which focuses on foreign policy research) predicts that the worst inflation is yet to come.

Stimson told Politico, "Prices at the pump are going to go up over time. The costs of goods are going to go up as diesel goes up. Shipping will get more expensive. Trucking will get more expensive. The things you buy at the store will get more expensive."

Cannot have nuclear weapons and having no nuclear program are very different. The problem is this admin and its two amateurish lead negotiators does not understand the difference. They got themselves, and the world, into this unnecessary mess because of that lack of understanding, and they are continuing it for the same reason. Of course, if someone had not torn up that deal 7 years ago, their incompetence would not be on full display for the whole world to see, and everyone would be better off today.

Anyhow, my reading is that Trump is desperate to secure a deal that, at least on paper, looks better than the Obama deal. News flash: it is not going to happen. So no, he is not being realistic.

From the two most recent articles quote above:

“The United States will not negotiate through the press — we have been clear about our red lines and the president will only make a deal that’s good for the American people and the world,” White House spokesperson Olivia Wales told the Times when asked for comment.

    and...

Energy experts say another oil price spike is coming — and it may be made worse by the president’s social media posts.

We don't do negotiate through the press, but sure, Truth Social is a legit diplomatic channel.

    Also:

“A frozen conflict is the worst thing for Trump politically and economically,” a source told Axios.

Yet that is what we have day after day because Trump can't stomach either putting more troops in or having everyone see he lost "the deal." He also doesn't really trust anyone other than family so we are stuck with Jared instead of the skilled State Department negotiators that were Doge-d out of jobs.

(If I had to bet, I would bet on an invasion simply because he is such a weak man that his ego will only allow him that option--I would love to be surprised though.)

Trump the clown just keeps inserting the next loyalist in line after firing his first pick. Qualifications never mattered, which is obvious. The circus must go on!

he’s now trying to push through his ballroom after his staged assassination attempt nobody cares about, and they now want to use $400 million of tax payer funds to do it after saying that it would be built from all the billionaire donations he’s received

they always have money for war and bullsh*t like a ballroom, but not for healthcare or other programs for the American people…funny how that works

It is good to keep am emphasis on the media. Garbage in; garbage out as we see from the usual MAGA defenders on this forum.

However, if by "media " we mean the mainstream or what should rightfully be called the billionaire owned media, including the New York Times their owners do think kindly of Trump at least for his tax cuts, mainly benefitting them.

10 whole posts yesterday on an ongoing war. Just shows you how much the administration is ignoring it and hoping it goes away. Yet the world economy suffers and thousands of our military are in limbo somewhere in the ME while we burn through another $2 billion or more per day.

What happened over the last 24 hours or so?

Somali piracy is up because more ships are travelling in an area that is patrolled by fewer EU naval forces thanks to having to move ships around because of the Iran War.

Australian inflation is up significantly as the war shocks start to hit the economy. The inflation rate went from 3.7% in February to 4.6% in March and continues to rise.

South Africa is temporarily forgoing fuel taxes in an effort to help consumers manage the increases brought on by the war.

A superyacht belonging to a Russian oligarch passed through the Strait and apparently both blockades yesterday.

Price of Brent crude hits $115 a barrel.

Trump met with oil execs at the White House yesterday.

This entire admin is appoint unqualified people because of loyalty, fail, fire said people, rinse, repeat.

Building a functional organization is something a con artist can’t understand. They are used to propping up whatever scam they’re in then ejecting with the money before it falls. And that’s what we have as a president.

Bone Spurs really likes to act all tough and macho. Dude's probably never had an ounce of muscle in his life. Same dude crying because he needs a special bunker under his ballroom to run to when he wines and dines lavishly, as he grifts, fundraises, and does tit for tat favors with his billionaire buddies, family, friends, and foreign leaders.
