Maybe we can trade him for JG4 and Dillon Brooks. I doubt they'd do it though.

IF.... we move on from KD (I don't see it).. THEN a trade with the wolves that brings us jaden and Ayo would be nice. Would even include Naz and FVV in that deal.

For me, I see moving on from KD as taking a bit of a step back in that the team would no longer have a bonafide superstar, but longterm it would be a huge benefit.

I doubt the Rockets can get a younger star in exchange for KD. It would more likely be 2-3 solid role players(including possibly one borderline All-Star) and maybe a pick or two. But that still helps the Rockets in that it fixes the chemistry, it allows the offense to flow better(although replacing Ime with a competent coach would also help in this regard), and it adds a lot of depth.

That right there addresses numerous issues that have plagued this team all season. Now as far as the step back, we can't deny that subtracting KD does mean we aren't on the level of OKC or San Antonio, but we're already not on par with them even with KD. So we may as well sell high on the guy before he starts to decline.

As far as getting that superstar player to make us a bonafide contender, there are three avenues. The first(and most unlikely) is that one of our core players takes a huge leap over the next year or two. I don't see Alpi or Amen doing that, but we can always hope. The second is to use the assets of our young core, the haul we get in return for KD, our own picks, and the picks we control from Brooklyn, Phoenix, and Dallas in an eventual trade for a star. The third is to see if those aforementioned Nets, Suns, or Mavs picks land us a star in 2027 or 2029.

We dont move on from KD as his new contract will just pay him 40M a year at a time superstars making the max will cost 55-70M a year.

Everyone just loves making **** up on reddit people were swearing up and down KD quit on the team and wasnt even in Houston anymore turns out he was getting treatment on a bone bruise and showed up tonight.

I am sure the players hate Ime more than KD at this point.

    Something like this:
Rockets:Brandon Miller, Grant Williams, Miles Bridges, Myles Turner
Charlotte: Sengun, Jabari, Tari, 2 First that start in 2029, 2031, 2 seconds
    WSH: KD
Rockets: AD, Wiz late First Rounder
Bucks: FVV, Wizards Late First, 2 seconds

We would bank on PHX, BKN, and our First from 2027, 2028 to land a star

    Sheppard
    Miller
    Amen
    AD(barely plays)
    Myles Turner

Whether KD quit on the team or not(I think he did, BTW) isn't really the reason to trade him. It's because the Rockets are not going to be contenders next year simply by reintegrating Fred and Steven. So why hang onto KD and waste another season as first or at best second round fodder? Why not get some solid, younger role players in return, maybe even add a pick or two to the wealth of draft capital we've already got, and do a slight reset with our eyes on the 2027-28 season?

Trading KD doesn't mean a rebuild. It's retooling. Think of it like when we let Dwight walk in 2016 after a similarly disastrous year. That was a transitionary season for the Rockets(in part because KD going to the Warriors rendered that year meaningless for 29 other teams). But by the following season, the Rockets had reloaded and had by far the best record in the NBA.

I'd let all of those teams make offers, but I don't think they need to trade Durant. They can ride his contract out. Next summer there is a good chance that we will have two lottery picks and a chance at #1 overall with the Nets pick. So all of this talk about rebuild is a bit overzealous as we have a chance at a youth influx in another year. Minor changes while we have Durant will help this team right the ship.

Our starting lineup with a true PG in FVV will be much improved. We just have to bolster it in a few areas. My proposal:

Trade DFS and Reeed to the Celtics for Sam Hauser and Payton Pritchard. I have read multiple articles that have said that those two are likely to be salary cap casualties for the Celtics. DFS and Reed are essentially expiring contracts next summer. That's $20M off their books. Reed would give them the ability to get younger at the guard position if they decide to keep him.

Then I'd send Capela/cash/Second round picks to the Pacers for Micah Potter. This would give the Rockets an offensive floor-spacing option at center.

These are minor moves that strengthen our shooting and gives us solid PG play off the bench (though I would still add another vet for the minimum). Bench players always get more minutes than it appears in these projections, but here are the projected minutes and the splits for these players from this season:

    Pos. Name MPG Splits
    C Sengun 33 52/30/69
    PF Jabari 35 45/36/77
    SF Amen 36 53/21/78
    SG Durant 36 52/41/87
    PG FVV 30 40/37/86

    Bench
    Pos. Name MPG Splits
    C Potter 15 51/42/84
    PF Hauser 13 42/39/85
    SF Tari 12 41/36/77
    SG Okogie 12 42/38/59
    PG Pritchard 18 46/38/89

You have to rebuild until you get a franchise player.

When you rebuild you keep going til you get a superstar. We dont shortcut it with a 37 YEAR OLD. This was lazy and stupid. They took a shortcut and they are paying for it.

The Pistons are about to lose the 1-8 matchup cause they cant score. They're susceptible to the "one go to scorer away" fallacy. We can start the offers with Ausar and go from there

Ayo is impossible - unless his salary alone equals $35.1m and it alone is traded for Durant.

You cannot aggregate a player who is signed and traded (that means you can't combine his salary with more salary to take on a larger contract).

They can't sign Ayo for $25m then add another $10m to it to equal the necessary $35.1m

Edit: That's got me to thinking - How much is Ayo worth?

Trade kd. We arent a superstar away, we are a superstar plus pg/coach/bench away.

Fvv was always meant to b a temporary solution since harden left.

Our bench is nonexistent. Kd and our starters play heavy mins bc our bench roster sucks.

Ime and fvv both suck. Having kd around would potentially get us to playoffs but with a bad coach and a pg who sucks its just a waste of time.

Just rebuild and tank bc we are just delaying the inevitable.
It would b interesting to see a final reunion with harden for shts and giggles but like I said we r just delaying the inevitable tank if we cant find our franchise player.
