If Kerr is available it would be really dumb not to hire him

    Steve Kerr can unlock Reed!
    Amen will be our Draymond!
    KD will be KD again
If Kerr was our coach, I would try to get Tyler Herro... he can be our Klay Thompson.
We probably have to trade Sengun to get Herro, but it could a great trade if they include Kel'el Ware...Steve Kerr did well as a coach with a defensive center (Bogut and Looney).
Kerr's roster with the Houston Rockets:
    Ware
    Amen
    KD
    Herro
    Reed
We'll have Jabari as our 6th man and resign Tari. Both of them can fill those Iguodala roles

Stone is well aware that Stone himself took chances to try to find magic in a bottle using very few long term resources this past offseason. With injuries, and Stone's unwillingness to part with resources to fix the team, it didn't happen. Stone is fully aware that Udoka was coaching a team with holes and lacking star talent.

If Udoka underperforms with a healthy team that fits, that would be different. Losing to the Lakers would be disappointing. However, I think fans are much more disappointed in Udoka than Stone is.

There are things I like about this team, but it looks incomplete to me.

Losing to this Lakers team would be far more than disappointing. It would be a national embarrassment and a major indictment of management and the coaching staff. Especially if it's a gentleman's sweep.

If the organization's response to such a disaster is to simply run it back(presumably with at least some roster tweaks), then they'll be under unbelievable pressure to deliver results next season.

Kerr...and remember Kerr has GM experience too. Offer him the Popovich role.

Eh, I'd be ecstatic if Kerr became our head coach, but he was not a good GM with Phoenix. Didn't he trade for Shaq and Jason Richardson? That team took a major step back with him in charge of personnel moves.

I don't think Kerr is going to leave the Bay Area just to come coach in Houston, y'all. If he stays in basketball it'll more likely be in a media role or a front office role. I would mentally cross him off your list right now as an option.

Out of who's available and would actually come coach for us, I think you go for a first time head coach and cross your fingers, hope to strike gold. As fans it's pretty hard to judge which of those would be best. None of the experienced head coaches who are available jumps out, really.

I think losing burns Stone at the core, but at the end of the day, his core is a lawyer. There will only be unbelievable pressure to deliver results next season for Udoka if Stone gives Udoka a roster worthy of unbelievable pressure to deliver results next season.

What TF should do is meet with Billy Donovan and offer him the role of Executive President of Basketball Operations.

Offer Stone a salary bump and tell him that he will still get to handle trade negotiations, interactions with the players and most of his prior duties.

Donovan would oversee the whole organization, especially player development and scouting -- and would be a voice in the room on roster construction, trades etc.

The Rockets need someone that really understands basketball from the lowest ground level to the sky --- and Donovan is one of those rare people that has that knowledge and can work with people.

There is no way in hell Patty has the balls to replace these two jokers. I would have fired Stone on the spot for his infamous comment. Sometimes you just tell the truth and admit who you are. If our future is dependent on FVV then he failed miserably.

The best teams aren’t picking old established names, they’re getting 40 year old coaches with good plans that no one had heard of.

Yes, because the best teams have people at the top that understand basketball at a high level.... from tape study, to the college game... to the G-League and the NBA.

So they know which younger coaches seem to "get it" and they interview them on an equal footing of knowledge... they also have surrounded themselves with other smart people locked in that help make the decision easier.

If your GM and staff can't do that, then they need to get an older version of that guy that still has tread on his tires and is progressive enough to keep up with the game..... those are coaches like Adelman, Larry Brown and Billy Donovan.

Culture setters like KC Jones, Ime Udoka, Phil Jackson and Rudy T work when a team has veterans that know how to play but need someone that sets the tone and is respected by the players. Players need to want to win for these guys.

Udoka is more of the culture setter -- and would probably do really well with the current Celtics or even Sixers.... he doesn't allow nonsense, he will bust an ass if needed and he is respected....... but he isn't going to draw up a play to get his 7th man open for a jumper in the left corner, because he knows the guy shoots 46% on those types of shots at home.

Steve Kerr defends handling of young players after Jonathan Kuminga saga: 'Grown ups win championships'

Kerr has long faced criticism for how he's coached young players, but never more so than this season as the long-running Jonathan Kuminga saga came to a close.

Budenholzer is a definitive no for me, like big time. This guy would watch his teams unravel and not do ****. You think Ime doesn’t call timeouts…
