First things first is get a new GM, Stone shouldn't be allowed to make anymore major decisions for this franchise. Second, the new GM, whoever it is, should aim to find a young #1 pre-breakout and use our ammo to go get him like Presti did with Shai or the Pacers did with Hali. Stone has never been any good at this (see: KPJ), hopefully a new GM would do a better job. Here are some random guys I might ask about: VJ Edgecombe - not because I think the 76ers actually want to trade him, but because they have by far the most money committed to godawful contracts of any team in the league, and already have Maxey playing like he may be a #1 guy. So, I guess ask Morey how much sh*t we'd have to eat for him to send VJ to his old organization? (Is there any limit to the amount?) Scoot Henderson - this is looking much less likely than before the playoffs, unfortunately, should have talked to them at the deadline (but again, I don't want Stone making these calls, so...) Brandon Miller - I've never greatly liked the guy as a prospect personally and I very strongly doubt he's a future #1, but he did just get lapped by Kon at the same position and I could see Charlotte listening to offers. A good but not great player, maybe he has a surprising breakout, probably not though. Zaccharie Risacher - probably just a bust, but that's why Atlanta might be willing to part with him for not too high a price. Wouldn't pay much for him, that's for sure. Nikola Topic - Poor guy has been the most snakebit player in the league since getting drafted by OKC. They have such a surplus of young talent that maybe they consider giving him up. (But for who? Can Tari be SnT'd over there? @BimaThug ) Ace Bailey - if we were to end up trading Sengun, I would definitely ask about Ace, as well as Utah's pick in this draft class. I've always thought Sengun would be a great fit next to Jaren Jackson Jr but I wouldn't give him to Utah cheap. They probably say no but you never know I don't know, somebody else chime in with some young guys who they could envision becoming available who have at least a chance of breaking out for us.
Yeah sure send out our only good 3pt shooters for 32 year old oft injured wanna be pg who can’t shoot.
I appreciate the sentiment, but the only one on that list we have a remote chance at is Risacher. Amen is our future superstar. We just need to build around him with good young players not shoot for the moon. If we get rid of Stone and Ime, then trading Sengun and KD for draft picks and good young role players makes sense. We should go back to the idea of a super athletic team and run, run, run. KD for a good pick and a bad contract or for a mid pick and expirings is the first thing I’d try to accomplish. Sengun should bring back at least one good young player and a couple of picks. Adams, FVV, DFS, and Capella should all be made available for peanuts and expirings. If you need to lump in Reed to get a really good trade, that’s fine too, but I think he can still be a valuable offensive weapon off the bench. We can afford to throw away next year if we can hang onto the 27 picks.
I’d do that trade if I had confidence that the Rockets could get consistent shooters via the rest of our remaining players and assets. I have no such confidence….
And the crazy thing is they literally will HAVE TO TANK NEXT SEASON OF THEY’RE GOING TO DO IT because Adam Silver has made it very clear they are going to make it harder to tank very soon. So if Tillman drags his feet to decide to finally rebuild again then we are going to be screwed.
Herro is a go to scorer and fits with everyone. Hes a better version of Jalen Green. Miami seems ready to move on from him. the question remains who else the Heat may throw in. Ware is unlikely but should be the main target (fits well with Sengun), maybe Jaime Jaquez. Maybe Kasparas. this likely won’t result in a championship roster but with Wemby and Flagg and SGA in the West for the next 10 years or so, the rockets are screwed by the lottery.
Exactly, As much KD probably is a culture cancer, he actually did his job for us this season it was literally EVERYONE else that was a failure GM, Coach, Sengun, bench players I wouldn’t even blame KD if he demanded a trade. I would want out of this **** hole of a team too. Imagine ending your historic career with this current organization
1. Fire Ime and hire a competent coach 2. Trade KD for whatever you can get for him 3.Build around the young core of Sengun, Amen, Jabari, and Reed.
He wasn't there for the team when they really needed him....couldn't even be bothered to show up on the sidelines.
Whats the plan from the don't move on from KD crowd? Ride off into the sunset with a 38 year old trying to win rings when we can't get out the first round against a hobbled team? FVV, KD, Adams have had major injuries, KD is 38. Injuries are likely to continue, the expectation that they won't is crazy to me. The Spurs and OKC key players are much younger and less likely to get injured.
Lamelo has always been floated out there. Wonder if they still would do it. He's still 25 and he needs to mature a bit...would be a risk... Zion...lol...well the guy plays great when he is healthy and is motivated. That's the problem...he's rarely both at the same time...but again this is the market we are in right now. Young players that teams might give up on. Keyonte George...Has all the makings of someone ready to break out into a star. Jazz are loading up on young players so like you said, maybe they let one go in an attempt to start competing or if they really like a player like Sengun or Bario or whoever in their vision. I don't know. Giddey...I have no idea what the Bulls are doing they have just been trading anyone and everyone without seemingly rhyme or reason and I think they are just collecting players right now so maybe? Would obviously be a great long term PG option for us.
1.Would try to trade KD for a 1st this year. Herro & MIA26’ for KD? Would see what it would take for Ware 2. Trade Sengun for more picks + a role player. Hornets should have the #14 this year 3. Try to trade FVV for an upgrade. FVV + pick for Dejounte Murray 4. Trade for Ty Jerome somehow. DFS + pick? Maybe see what Reed or Tari can fetch you Murray, Herro, Jerome, Reed, Amen would be a solid guard rotation. Only 1-2 year deals. Maybe resign Murray to a reasonable deal as he turns 30. Could trade Herro in a S&T after next season If we could get Ware from Miami that would be great but I would try to run Jabari at the 5 for periods and start Amen at the 4
If I had to guess, these would be the kind of teams that would trade for Katie the Merc . 1) An actual playoff contender who needs one more scorer to get over the top. 2) A lottery team that just needs a star to put butts in the arena seats. Katie the Merc will never agree to #2 so that’s off the table. That means only #1 is an option and for it to be feasible, they’ll also (a) have to be in a city that KtM wants to go to and (b) have enough tradeable assets to make it comply with cap rules without trading away players that make it a contender. So in a best case scenario, we’re trading KtM for another, inferior one-dimensional scorer, because that’s all a contending team can afford to lose to remain competitive. What’s more likely is that we’re looking at a package similar to the poo-poo platter that we got for a disgruntled Scottie Pippen in 1999, which is basically lottery bust, vets who are a year away from being out of the league and end of bench guys. This will definitely be the case if KtM goes public with a trade demand. Nobody is going to give us anything of significant value for a 38 year old guy that’s a team/coach killer and who primarily gives you midrange scoring.
I blame the org for failing some of the other players too. Not all, some players like DFS are just plain terrible. I mean some younger players doing ok but maybe should be a little better. Like Amen isn't a real point guard but is pressed into being one. It's odd that Sengun might have been a more effective player 3 seasons ago before his 2 All Star seasons. It's like they're doing experimental roles to young players that will pay off in 3 years, but in the current it's too developmental for championship aspirations. Which extends into reliance on Durant to smooth it over. I heard Durant described as a "taller Carmelo". But would you bring in an older Carmelo to be your defacto point guard and mess cleaner? That'd be the org's fault for doing that
It is not as easy, because if Stone is still here and I expect him to, he would think he's given up so much to at least keep Dickerson for another year.
