I think back in January on Vecenie's podcast they had a "can Reed really play in the playoffs?" segment and discussed Dosunmu as a guy who would make sense to target since he'd solve a need and would also be someone who can play with Reed so you aren't totally giving up on him. I believe they mentioned Capela (before the Adams injury) and a first as a reasonable price.

If there was any plausible pathway to resigning Dosunmu if the Rockets traded for him (including shipping out Fred if need be) Stone should have been willing to give up a first.

The fool Stone does know what a good player would be like.

Just look at players what we got in recent years. He did terrible job.

    Dude is incompetent as GM.

The Rockets were hard capped at the first apron. Ayo makes 7.5 mil, this means the Rockets would have to send a rotational piece plus picks for an expiring contract. Bulls were already demanding Sheppard and/or Eason. The wolves had to send 2 young talented but raw prospects in Dillingham and Miller and 4 second rounders. I don’t blame Stone for not making a move.

I also think Stone and management already know what they might do with this roster and that they know this roster isn’t good enough. They might be saving the picks and young players for other potential moves in the off season.

Shiit GM, shiit coach, shiit owner, shiit team.

    I feel so tired.
I feel it's still not our year in another 30 years.

Our limited flexibility to make normal moves is also Stone’s responsibility. I get it that he’s hands were tied and he couldn’t make normal moves, but he tied hi own hands by granting a huge 25m a year contract to Fred, and signing DFS without proper diligence to his potential health issues.

    This is exactly right.

When you look at the trade the wolves pulled and what they gave up...ayo would have cost us at least reed (or a future first) plus the 4 secind rounders and we would have had to re-sign him. He's going to get a decent bag from somewhere.

And we may wind up trading for Ant instead. Or maybe we trade KD to the Wolves for Ayo and McDaniels...

    Ayo was not traded cheap.

25 mil isn’t huge for vet starting pg’s by NBA standards.Derrick White makes 29 mil. Giddey makes 25 mil. Caruso who is a bench player makes 20 mil. That’s the market price. Again you people undervalue Fred’s impact who is similar to Brooks. Those guys shaped this franchise and it sucks we lost brooks. That decision I didn’t agree with. We needed vet leadership otherwise we would be the Silas Rockets again.

Good GMs constantly scam bad ones for elite players. Bad ones pay for players that ruin the salary cap like the DFS contract.

I was just sharing my own thoughts based on what his post made me think about. No bad intentions at all. All that said, I follow the NBA casually and I knew those players would be a good fit for our team. There is no way that the rockets front office did not know. It was a informed choice that they choose to make.

Agree with all of this. Stone is responsible for them being hard capped though, so **** him anyway!

I don’t know what research they did on DFS but apparently they gave him a physical and did medical evaluations and made a calculated move. Very disappointing.

From all his decisions I didn’t like the Durant trade, Sheppard draft, and especially the DFS signing. Really don’t get how they didn’t have a backup pg plan.

I was being sarcastic based off Stones condescending response to his original ‘not our year quote’.

    You’re more than likely correct.

    I disagree whole heartedly.

Dillingham is a bust. The Wolves desperately need, as much as the Rockets, a PG/secondary ball handler which Rob supposedly is. He couldn't break the rotation and any time he saw the court he was unplayable.

Miller couldn't crack the rotation either.

The Bulls are cheap and dumped the Ayo salary. They took 4 picks to take on the remainder of the Rob contract.

The trade equivalent for Ayo wasn't Reed/Tari - yes, i'm sure that is who the Bulls asked for but who cares...? They got nothing remotely equivalent in value. Could have attached a first to a salary and beat the wolves offer easily.

Houston not addressing the biggest need seen in two consecutive years when CJ, Ayo, and Coby all changed teams is negligent.

GM and coaching staff should be removed.

Our gm or coach is so in love with fvv that they feel comfortable not going searching for another one. Fvv sucks as our starting pg.

FVV was unavailable this season and on the last year of his contract for last year.

Regardless of how you feel about FVV, the team lacked a primary ball handler the entire season. Whether that person they brought in started over FVV is beside the point.
