I really like our young core. But will be disappointed if they don’t throw this b*tch ass coach under the bus the way he’s doing them. Can’t just let homie slander y’all when he’s already got your ticket out of town.
We don't know what a team with Amen tasked to create for himself frequently would look like. It's never happened. First it was Fred and JG, then it was KD and Alpi. I don't know if Amen will ever be that caliber of player on offense. I do think he's our best shot though. But I'm open to the idea that him and Sengun could be our #1 / #2, in whatever order. Not while both of them can't shoot, though. As long as that's the case, it's neither, not one and not both.
Ok, so we can't build around non shooters. Who's the better shooting prospect? Which has shown the most scoring potential? Which has shown star potential on the offensive end bearing in mind that every single star or superstar player in history is an offensive monster, regardless of their defense? Now, show me a single defensive specialist with no shooting skills and very few fundamentals you can hold up as an example of Amen's potential as a star player? Seriously, one player.
im hoping I can be crystal clear about this: I do not want to build around Amen or Sengun. I don’t see either as franchise players. Our focus as a franchise should be on acquiring a franchise player on the front end of their career. if forced to choose between Amen and Sengun I would choose Amen because of positional versatility, elite defense, and because I believe he can be an elite 2-way player. Amen is a mid-range game away from being an all-nba player. Sengun can become an elite offensive player. Both players have to improve their shooting. But I think u give up a lot at the center position if you can’t protect the paint or space the floor.
Where's this elite defense? Who's Amen shut down in this Lakers series exactly? It's bullshit. Amen isn't actually elite at anything outside of running fast and jumping twice quicker than other people. Is he shutting down 41 year old LeBron? Marcus Smart? Luka Nard? Rui Hachimura? Who? It's all nonsense, you're just spewing the party line and it doesn't hold up to the slightest bit of scrutiny. Elite defenders don't get punked by bench players or old men, Amen does, often. Where's the evidence of any elite anything on offense for him to be considered an "elite 2 way prospect?" He makes Jalen Green actually look like Kobe in comparison, seriously though.
Still waiting for answers as to why Amen's the better prospect? Seems like people have paper thin "convictions" based on nothing but herd mentality, go figure...
“While expert opinions are divided, Sengun is currently seen as having the higher offensive floor, whereas Thompson is frequently cited as holding the higher overall ceiling due to his ability to dominate defensively while still developing offensively” Anyway, opinions are mixed obviously. One thing that Amen does clearly have here him is his size and athleticism compared to his competitors is elite, while Senguns size and athleticism compared to other centers is mediocre. This is one thing that won’t change unfortunately. As of now, they’re an awkward fit together. It will be interesting to see what the team decides to do about it, if anything.
Jalen Green had a higher ceiling than Sengun too, and more developed skills by far than Amen - it's not that great an argument. Ceiling is a pipe dream, I'm talking reality. What elite level skill on the offensive end does Amen Thompson have? Just one please. And which player on the Lakers is he currently shutting down with his "elite defense?" One player please. Also, the fact you tried to argue against my "only reason is herd mentality" by saying "this is what other people think" is genuinely hilarious, thanks for proving my point.
The version of Sengun you want: Current All-star + better finisher + better D + better shooter… Is an MVP. That’s fine. You just have to be honest with yourself wrt that’s the level of play you’re asking of him. No bs. No hyperbole. That’s fact. Glad to see a few default Sengun haters give him some love. Remember kids, if a 23 yr old plays like one of the best players in the world and suddenly sucks after non-stop play and a back injury then you might want to cut him some slack. Orrrrr keep sniffing glue and thinking that’s what a normal progression for an age 23 season looks like. Clown ass haters.
I promise I don’t hate Sengun.i think my concerns are fair. Obviously I expect him to improve. It’s just an opinion. Not sure why you are taking it personally.
I find it crazy that people could've watched him playing for Turkey last summer, and then seen him get shut down by KD being a sensitive lil b**** and come to the conclusion that he sucks more than he's been stifled and misused. You don't go from competing with top 5 players in the league to seemingly looking disinterested or disheartened without there being a reason for it...
You can hate him or love him All good. Tho prob easier on a Rox forum if the latter. I’m being realistic with you. Are you being realistic with yourself? Think through what you’re implying. You want an all star to 1) shoot 2) finish and 3) defend better. That’s called an MVP. Honestly that’s probably what Sengun expects of himself so you’re not alone. (Also you misread my post. Clown ass haters is more for the Sam Fishers of the world. Opportunistic trolls etc)
I don’t think it’s unrealistic to want him to shoot better than this….if that’s asking too much, then we have an issue. And the all star thing is so overdone. He got in because others couldnt go. In no way, shape, or form is currently among the best 24 players in the league. I like the guy a ton and was over the moon when we drafted him…but that’s not who he is. And yes, he needs to be able to finish better than this…it was a problem in last years playoffs too:
You said give you just one reason why people think Amen has a higher ceiling. I gave you more than one. Amen Thompson is physically and athletically elite compared to his position peers. Most in the league consider him to be the most athletic player in the entire league. That’s saying something. Sengun is not only mediocre but maybe below average also. That’s something that can’t be fixed. Amen has played elite defense most of his career and is by far the team’s best defender. He was first team all defense last year. We will see where he ends up this year, but clearly they’ve had him focused on trying to learn the point guard position so that took away from some of the last year's top 3 in the league defense. On offense he is still raw but once again his elite athleticism and instincts allow him to excel in transition and any kind of cutting and slashing and finishing. He can also be a secondary ball handler. He is a midrange jump shot away from being an all world player. He has a chance to be a two way star. Sengun doesn’t since on defense he has physical and athletic limitations that just wont allow him to be some great defender ever.
Your standard for Sengun is MVP. That’s fine. I don’t doubt that you want the best for the Rox. As do I. It’s just better when we’re honest about it. I want him to be the guy he was the first 25 games of the year. He plays like that + we dump the Kancerous chemistry killer that is KDF and we’ll be fine.
Being better than the stats I just sent you isn’t asking for MVP. I know for a fact he will never be MVP. Finishing better in the paint isn’t a high bar…not when the numbers are like I just shared
Shane gun has flaws just like every other player, however he’s not the problem. Not having enough shooters on the team makes it easy for teams to defend him down low. The rent was literally the only guy that could knock down shots. Not one other player on the roster has stepped up. Look at the play-off teams having success and you’ll see some similarities They all have PG’d and shooters. Not one of them relies on their center position to carry the team.
Maybe he should nut up and not be stifled by KD lol sounds like they’re both sensitive little b****es to be honest. Man up and play the best that you can. He clearly hasn’t for whatever reason. But his finishing and touch around the rim have been awful for a while now.
