Brunson was a 3 year college player and won 2 national championships. Reed came off the bench (because Cal promised DJ Wagner the starting job) and his team lost to a lower seed in the first round of the NCAA tournament. In retrospect Reed was a legacy recruit who planned to stay in school for 4 years. **** changed. He can play. He’s shown he can break out. He’s got a long way to go. Ime isn’t doing him any favors.

Reed is 6'2", but he is pretty slight build.

And his defense is seriously just a matter of working at staying in front of someone - it isn't rocket science, why hasn't Ime been able to teach this team to play proper D, Reed included? Or Durant who stands and watches players score at the Rim, or Alpi - same, or Tari not knowing how to box out.

    Team is a mess

It's because your entire premise is stupid. The fact that you don't realize that suggests it's pointless discussing basketball with you.

Reed Sheppard it's currently ahead of where Steph Curry was at the same age and approximately the same nba minutes.

Name just about any star PG and that same statement is true.... Nash, Stockton, Kidd, same story.

I'm sorry that comes as a shock to you, but that's just how it is.

So Sheppard is a developmental player then?

dude just doesn’t pay attention to his man or anticipate screens. RJ who I can’t stand, said something profound in one of the games couple weeks ago. He said to be a great defender it’s not just the current action or point of attack you’re guarding but you’re also anticipating the next action like a screen or pass etc. He can’t get thru the first action right now. Hopefully he can be better

I was giving an example to the question.

Aren't all rookies and young players developmental players?

    yes I agree. You’re correct.

I’ve said this and received tons of hate from the Sheppard mob. I have always said he could be a good role player one day and the coaching staff is developing him by playing him. It’s apparent he isn’t good right now but doesn’t mean he can’t be.

Chauncey Billups and Mahmoud Abdul-Rauf had he not been blacklisted. Any other questions to prove your goofy angle?

At age 21, Steph Curry dragged Davidson to the Elite 8. At age 21, Reed is a streaky volume chucker who has basically been unplayable this series. You Reed truthers are nuts.

Gotta love the premise that you can’t be a racist if you boink someone from another race. Yikes

Honestly, yeah, i feel that way about most of this team. This is just Alpy. This is just Bari. This is just Amen. Hard to see any more ceiling.

Bari reminds me a lot of Horry and why we wanted to trade him for Elliott. Funny thing is i can easily see Bari going on to have an Horry like career on contenders. Without a handle, i dont see him punching up another level. He just isn't dynamic enough of an offensive player and his 3ball is too inconsistent to ever be a major threat on offense even as a stretch 4. Bari shooting 38-40% on 6-8 3s a game? Defense and length? Yeah, id love to keep that at a good price. I'd love to see him get a green light from deep 2 pt range where he was killing it in college. Michael Jordan's 3 ball was meh. 1 step inside? He was unstoppable. That was his range. To hell with Moreyball. It's probably Bari's range. I dont know the stats but im pretty sure he's efficient from mid range.

Amen is a great piece you'd love to have. But as a 1st? Nah. 2nd option? Dont see it. 3rd-4th? Now we're talking. I dont see him punching up another level if he can't shoot elite level. Even avg isn't going to be good enough if hes your #1. I liken his career trajectory to Shawn Marion and i loved the Matrix, but PHX was going nowhere when he was their #1 or #2 option. His winning success took off when he got comfortable in a role player role. As a 20 and 10 defensive athlete? Not going anywhere.15 and 8, athletic and playing elite D? That of course means you have others doing the heavy lifting on offense-then yeah id love to keep that player at a right price for that role.

Tari and Reed? They're really the only two we haven't seen get very consistent heavy minutes. If we blow it up and go rebuild again-why not let them have the keys and build up their value or unlock a potential all star in them? Otherwise, you still need the bench scoring potential. Tari itching to start. After KD gone? Then all these above pieces just don't fit together unless they all unlock their outside shooting threat. The odds of that has to be extremely slim. I understand they're all very young still. It's hard to be patient especially with players coming in so young. it feels like they're all seasoned vets, but they are still very young men.

Are you really dumb enough to think Reed Sheppard wouldn't have absolutely dominated ****ing college basketball this season if he was still in school?

    Lol

He just shot 39.4% from 3 on 7 attempts per game. Insane you can’t admit that that is good.

I firmly disagree with this actually. I think there's so much talent on this team, that they dragged Ime to 50 wins in multiple seasons. I think Jabari, Amen and Reed are insanely talented. We need to see what another coach can do with them. Ime basically needs a coach on the floor to figure out offense for him (Fred) and then a bunch of rangey defenders to rah rah play hard produce turnovers. You cant tell me a decent coach can't draw up plays for Jabari like Kerr did with Klay who was a very similar player.

They arent surefire bets to be amazing players (Amen already is defensively). But you cant say anything about them yet especially after seeing this absolute disaster of a season unfold. I'm just not at "maybe every single player we drafted is just retar*ed" and not at "maybe these guys who decided to take a flight to San Francisco and stay there a night and then take a bus over to Sacramento for some reason" dont have the best coaching staff around them.

He was standing in front of Marcus Smart, but Marcus and most every other starting guard in the league can just out muscle him or shed him easily on jump shots in the lane or layups. He has to have help on every possession. His physical limitations will prevent him from being a starting guard in this league.

I feel like last year was a fluke in a more parity type of season. We easily could have been a lower seed and GS exposed that as a 48 win 7th seed. Sure it went 7, but we were exposed as offensively inept.
I dont think we make the play in without KD this season. Exposed yet again. The roster just does not fit. We cant put the ball on the floor. We can't shoot. Can't create for individuals or others.
Talented, sure, just not enough of certain offensive talents that this team desperately needs.

Classic a year away from being a year away off the bench scorer if he can develop his handle.
