Rockets Twitter always doing this sh*t to cope that same 4 man lineup had a -1.0 net rating in 476 minutes in the regular season Amen Thompson can’t shoot a lick…he was invisible in the 4th and OT last night, I forgot he was even on the court Sengun was getting embarrassed by 2 scrub bigs in Ayton and Jaxon Hayes down in LA Jabari is just mid, and he had 1 of the dumbest plays of the night yesterday Reed Sheppard is giving us 27/30/50 shooting splits and is an absolute traffic cone on defense these guys will always get exposed in the playoffs…half of them can’t shoot, and the other half can’t defend
I agree. I think players look bad on badly coached team. Poorly constructed teams. There are many such cases of players turning things around with just a coaching change. You have KD being your PG not sure how you expect guys to get good looks out of that.
Jabari is objectively bad at basketball so you limit his responsibilities on the court by using him as a catch&shoot player. He could still be very useful. Also, i remember very vividly calling his ceiling a worse MPJ and getting torn apart on Twitter. Turns out i was right once again just like i was with my Jalen–Clarkson comparison. Reed is very inexperienced but could become an elite microwave scorer like Clarkson. Amen i'd sell high on him because i don't believe in his basketball abilities. Amen is a great defender but i suspect that we won't terribly miss his presence.
I like all of them individually, I just think Sengun and Reed fit poorly together on defense, and Amen and Sengun fit poorly together on offense, and the stagnant offensive system doesn't help any of them. I also don't know if any of them ever becomes a #1 option. But a lot of teams would like to have any one of these players on their roster and in a playoff rotation in a vacuum, i.e. leaving out considerations of pay and managing personalities/expectations. For some of them, at least on some teams, that might be off the bench as a 6th man though. I think if we just do the wise thing and press the reset button right now at least two or three of these guys can stick around and we can kind of have a head start continuing to rebuild. But we need to stop expecting this roster with this coach to go anywhere as currently constructed.
I can see a world where this core works out. I think Sengun must learn to shoot and may possibly need to be a PF. Jabari needs to learn to calm the F down/slow down when he is handling in the open court. Reed needs to mature his game, which is reasonable considering he is a small combo-guard adjusting to the physicallity of the NBA. Amen obviously would benefit from better shooting, but what I want most is for him to be the undisputed leader of the squad.
No one on this team should be considered 'untouchable' this offseason. I believe most of the Rockets fanbase is delusional regarding the talent on this team. The coach is the convenient 'throat to choke' because people don't want to come to grips with the fact that the young core isn't that great. People swore that Silas was holding the team back and most of the players from the Silas era are no longer here or have proven to not be elite. Now after one bad season under Udoka people want to blame the failure on poor coaching, but still hold out hope for the young core...doesn't make sense to me.
I think most people are pretty clear-eyed. There are some people who are over-hyping certain players. But we all know the talent isn't at the level as OKC or San Antonio. That doesn't mean they're not good to very good players, especially relative to being 21-24 years old. We just need to go back to adding young talent and hope somebody breaks out at some point, whether it's one of these guys or somebody else we draft/acquire.
Stone, ime and smith all have to go. Just ****ing dribble the damn ball up game over ****ing idiot this is one is going to be hard to forgive
