First off, you know nothing about basketball, so you might as well stop embarrassing yourself right now.

Absolutely, it's absurd, but for the most part it's not coming from serious people

As an aside, why do we keep drafting such weird players? Feels like nearly every guy we drafted has these weird min/maxed extremes and doesn't fit into any common archetype, with the possible exception of Jabari. (And we know they wanted Paolo, also a weird guy.) Reed is a weird player.

I'm not sure if it's just circumstance or some intentional plan by the front office, but I'm convinced that the lack of young players with well rounded skillsets is why it's been so hard to make this roster fit together well.

Reed is fine he needs guys that compliment him, that can shoot.

We are not far off we just need some better shooters like Grimes etc.

In this case we screwed oursleves. Scottie Barnes and Castle would be nice.

No one is expecting Reed to “blow the doors off”, but there are baseline expectations being a top 3 pick (same as Jalen was expected). It doesn’t matter if it’s his second year or that he’s only 21.

Regardless of age or experience, as a PG he should at least be able to beat centers off the dribble when there is a switch, initiate sets, and avoid basic mistakes like picking up his dribble too early. Those are areas he’s struggled with consistently.

Don’t get me started on his defense. Everyone gets scored on but he looks completely lost out there. He has good instincts and quick hands but he’s a traffic cone on D. I do recognize he’s undersized out there so I don’t really harp on that or hold it against him.

The bigger concern is his shooting, if that’s supposed to be his defining skill, the inconsistency is a real issue. I’m not saying punt on him or trade him but have to call a spade a spade. He’s not ready which most people have been saying since his rookie year. You guys wanted him in a bigger role and now the excuses are he shouldn’t be playing 45 minutes in a playoff game or have the ball in his hands late in the game. If everything has to be ideal or perfect for him to succeed then sorry he’s not ready.

I’m not sure what’s worse…listening to that guy yell or watching Reed attempt to play defense

this is like the guard version of Enes Kanter on defense

he is such a liability on defense…the most hilarious thing is that the draft “experts” were lauding his defense coming into the league because of stocks and analytics, but he’s a literal chair or traffic cone

This isnt really true. His draft picks are all pretty established draft prospecg archetypes. Its just that they never developed. There is a reason why so many Rockets fans keep talking about being patient and that our players being young. Because fans need to make up imaginary futures for these players, as opposed to seeing them as they are. Which are as flawed as they were back when they were still coming out of the draft

Of course. I was "off with his head" last year with Jalen whereas with Reed I'm most definitely not. I dont really make judgements on players and hope for the best up through their 3rd year and then after that its gloves off.

But constantly saying "its because Ime didn't play him enough/now hes lost his rhythm/blah blah" is also obtuse. He's young and flawed and talented and thats OK. He isnt a surefire bet to be a great PG nor is he a surefire bet to be a bust. I hate the idea that when he plays bad its because of other factors but when he plays good its all him.

He isnt Jabari Smith or Amen Thompson though. If he isnt an absolute dynamo on offense like Jalen Brunson he will just be a 6th man like he was at Kentucky. Im not sure I would want him as a full time starter next year from what I've seen both defensively and offensively this year.

My MAGINOT LINE is impenetrable, it just needs a protective line of fortifications to complement it.

I know the low IQ types are going to have their hot takes... but here's reality

    20260425_094645.jpg

These 3 are all under 24 years old and the team is doing extremely well when they are on the court together.... and they should only get better, especially if the Rockets ever invest in a real head coach.

Well, thats the price you pay for volume shot missing and game-losing turnovers

it must be hard to give this thread 630 pages of your time and have Reed prove you wrong on national TV.

Lucky for the few people that still puts the team over personal fandoms we now know who this guy is.

Reed was really frustrating to watch out there bricking 3s and laying down on defense, but somehow the team seems to function better with him out there than with KD. Such a weird thing to say but, there ya have it. If I'm going to watch losing basketball, I'd rather watch the young guys.
